What Else Does Captain's Woman Do?

Spock's Barber

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Besides the obvious, what other duties does the Captain's Woman have in the 'Mirror, Mirror' parallel universe? Let your imagination and sense of humor run wild.....

She's obviously a big confidant for the Captain, and may also be able to ferret out certain information that the Captain would not be privy to. Although I'd imagine that once it became known that a certain crewman was the Captain's Woman, people would clam up pretty quickly around her.

I imagine if Yeoman Rand had still been a part of the series by this point she might have been the Captain's Woman.

Unless she played the dangerous game of manipulating them into thinking she was on their side and she wanted to become their woman.

Kor

She would also have a Starfleet job to do, in addition to servicing tye Captain and tending to his personal needs.

She runs the ship while her captain struts around trying not to get assassinated.... again.

I imagine it depends on the captain.

Some of them, such as mirror Kirk, are obviously psychotic and probably use their Captain's Women as little more than sex slaves. Kind of like the "comfort women" we've seen before.

Others, such as mu-Forrest, are more stable and perhaps even feel genuine affection for their women. In that case I'd guess that the woman in question serves as a confidant, sounding board, personal assistant, possibly even a member of the actual crew (such as a Political Officer, which I'm sure the Empire has).

But that begs the question, even if a captain actually loves his "captain's woman", does she love him back? Again it probably depends. Some captain's women just use the whole thing as a method to move up the ranks (especially useful to senior Imperial officials who see them as ready made spies), others might actually return the affection they're given, if any.

The question that I don't know if it was adequately answered in the MU episodes was - were their other opportunities for women to advance in Starfleet outside of being a "Captain's Woman?"
Could a woman eventually take charge of a ship, a fleet, etc, without having to attach herself to a male officer?

Seems like someone would have to be pretty gullible (or horny) to fall for that. Why would someone who's already a Captain's Woman attach herself to a lowly Lieutenant, just in the hopes that he might make Captain? Seems like a high risk/low reward type of situation for her.

Although, come to think of it, Marlena did say in "Mirror, Mirror" that Commander Kenno would take her if Kirk was no longer interested, but that seemed more out of necessity than anything else.

From what Marlena said, I'd say that she and Mirror-Kirk had a genuine romantic relationship, at least at first, but they were obviously going through a rough patch by the time of "Mirror, Mirror."

I'd imagine so, but being a geisha/concubine type would obviously speed up the process.

But yeah, the Mirror Universe has to have at least some promotions that are based on merit rather than assassination. Otherwise it would be complete anarchy.

Galactic Geisha...Sex, Entertainment, Artistic, in addition to her other duties..

Marlena did say that she liked being a Captain's woman and would be one again after Kirk if she had to go through every officer in the fleet.

I thought that it was pretty clear that Hoshi had a real attachment and feelings for Forrest. At the same time, she didn't become compulsively ambitious out of nowhere after his death. I don't doubt that, aside from loyalty and affection, she saw in him a leader whose capabilities might very weill lead to the Admiralty, with her accompanying him on that journey. With Archer as the replacement, her goals and motives were considerably plainer to discern. She certainly didn't respect Archer as she did Forrest, and for good reason. By virtue of his command of the Defiant, and only due to that fact, Hoshi saw a clearer path to much greater possibilities, as she was aware from previous experience, of Archer's weaknesses and almost pathological insecurity, tools that she could much more easily exploit, and with no compunction, to go from being someone's woman to being The Woman.
