Were the Magog in Andromeda based partly off the Gorn?

I just watched that episode again Memento Mori and it was a great episode but the look of the smaller Gorn ships brought me back to Andromeda and the Magog ships and the way they bred felt somewhat similar to the Gorn, so was wondering if they had borrowed some of that idea for the Magog.

No. The idea of Gorn breeding like that hadn’t yet been introduced when Andromeda was made.

Likewise, at the time Andromeda was made, there were no Gorn ships for Andromeda to base the design of Magog ships on. The first Gorn ship would not be seen until 2006 (a year after Andromeda ended) in the remastered version of Arena. So, no, there's absolutely no way the Gorn could have inspired the Magog. At all.
