USS Discovery ship design PROS & CONS

I personally don't like the ship design, but I could live with it. I guess they're going for a more rugged, industrial look.
The Nacelles look like superchargers from a hot rod, however, they bear some resemblance to the Cochrane nacelle design, seen in Star Trek: First Contact and in Star Trek: Enterprise, I don't know, it being set before the original series, perhaps it's some hybrid design of the Cochrane nacelle and the TOS nacelle. The pylons are a tad too much for me, they just seem... bleh...
Also, the color. I'm not a big fan of parting from the usual light gray color of the ship, but I do like the kind of brass color the Discovery has. Like the NX-01' color scheme of unpainted metal, I really liked that.
One final thing that does bother me is the main deflector. The original USS Enterprise had the radar dish type deflector, and the discovery the glowing one. Of course, so did the NX-01 and, if you consider it good enough to mention, the fan film Prelude to Axanar. The main deflector for the Aries class starship was similar to the Discovery, the Aries also having preceded the constitution class.

Tell me what you think.

I think some people will hate it.
I think some people will love it.
I think some people will be just okay with it.
I think some people will not be okay with it.

And, like every post such as this one concerning every ship we have ever seen, it will be as boring as the day is long.

And in the end nothing will change. Opinions will be expressed and forgotten.

I'm about to be pretty nitpicky here, but I think it's justified. The dish itself isn't what glows. On most modern starship designs, the dish itself is copper and the blue glow comes from behind the dish. Examples include the NX 01, Voyager, and Enterprise D. Exceptions include the Enterprise refit, the JJprise, and USS Discovery. On the Refit and the JJprise though, the dish appears to be copper when inactive, which will likely be the case on Discovery.

I am not too happy with what we have seen of the Discovery so far, but I hear it has changed a bit since the early rough tease. I think I will withhold my views until I see it proper.

It's hard to say much about the design until we know it's purpose. It could be a combined Federation-Klingon design for a joint mission, or an experimental battleship (note the number of phaser turrets, although the name doesn't sound very battleship-like).

If it's "just" another Federation ship doing the exact same thing as the Enterprise but elsewhere in space, it's different. But right now I suspect a specific reason for the look.

I actually like the triangular lower hull...... However I find that the saucer seems a bit too big. Why do Fed ships have to have some kind of saucer? Why can't we have designs like the other races like the Vulcan ring ships?

According to those who claim to have seen the new re-design of the Discovery it now has new lines (more curves apparently) and new warp nacelles.

New nacelles sound good, now just a new saucer, a new hull, new pylons and a whole new design ethos and we will be making good progress.

Who? Because you really shouldn't believe everything you read online...
Who?

“Everybody got a glimpse of what the ship looked like as a work in progress, and so much of that has already changed because that was — that design wasn’t even finalized. It was, like, ‘What can we share with folks at Comic-Con that lets them into the process?’ And already I look at that design and go like, ‘We’ve got different nacelles. We’ve got different lines there.’ So it’s an evolution, and we’re finding that look as we get closer and closer to production.” - Brian Fuller.

Also the guys at TrekYards claim that they have seen it (Link). They do know a lot of designers who have worked on Star Trek, including the designer of the USS Discovery. I have no reason to think they are lying.

TrekYard says that the producers of Discovery are changing the ship design to "give fans what they want." I think doing so can be bad. If producers read websites (like this one) or Twitter, they might often see the most vocal fans giving the strongest opinions, but these opinions are not necessarily the most logical and are probably not the most common. The ship might be betting worse. We should let the producers do their job while we hope for the best.

Agreed

You might find this later comment regarding the Discovery designer interesting. Link
I hope those new warp nacelles are blue. ;)
All warp nacelles are blue on the inside?

They couldn't be anymore unoriginal with this title/name of the series/ship. Discovery. And people bitch about Star Trek: The Motion Picture and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
