TOS Sounds! TOS Sounds! (SPOILERS)

Well well, who is with me on having an eargasm over TOS sounds in the movie!!!!

Which ones did you pick up on? I loved all the bridge sounds, very TOS to me, and at the beginning of the movie. Also the beaming I thought was pretty darn close to TOS sounding! What else did you notice?

Red Alert klaxon was true to TOS.

I already said that in the grading and discussion thread, but the usage of the original sound effects felt somewhat distracting to me. I really appreciate the producer's effort of making this an audible homage to TOS, but I don't think it really went well with the updated look of the movie. The effects just sounded as if they didn't belong there at all. But it didn't really stop me from enjoying the movie. :)

I thought the Red Alert sounded different, but I did like all the ambient sounds (buttons, scanners, etc.)

I kind of disagree with that, though they were TOS like, I thought the sounds still fit in very well with this revamped Enterprise. It sounded like the future to me! :D

I totally agree with Brent on this - The sounds were nicely made (xcept the Nokia one, but then, that wasn't a TOS sound - good for a cheap laugh though -I wonder how much Nokia paid for that!)
The very first TOS sound gave me chills.
Me 2!

I agree as well. The only sound that stuck out a little was on the Captain's chair, when he activates the comm system to address the crew. The transporter was awesome! The visual and audio!

The sounds of the ships passing by (Enterprise flying through the debris/Warp) were a little odd, though somehow okay. I definitely got used to it, but it is strange.

The weapon sounds were great alos. Just enough of the original sounds to add flavor. The Photon Torpedoes are dead on.

The TOS sounds were great, not to mention timeless. Loved the acceleration sound. The various button noisies were fantastic and the transporter sounds were amazing. And the atmosphere of the bridge was very comfortably TOS thanks to that viewscreen effect. These guys knew what they were doing.

TOS sounds were great. Fantastic retro quality to them, and I think it really worked well with the modern film, strange as it sounds.

Red alert sounded different though.

Glad I wasn't the only one! As soon as I heard the beeps and radio like sounds, I audibly gasped. Combined with the fantastic Kelvin visual it just made the film "feel" right from the first scene on. Very smart to use a classic sound to "set the tone" of the movie.

It was also great to hear the warp engine sound from TOS as the Enterprise fought to escape the final blast. I loved the noise starts low and swells. It's something that adds so much texture it's pure awesome. :)
