TOS movies are so flawed

The thing about the STIII Bird of Prey is that it doesn’t look remotely like the Romulan BoP from TOS. It looks more like the Klingon D7/K’T’inga class battlecruisers, just with a green and red paint job and movable wings. Once the decision was made to have the adversaries be Klingons instead of Romulans, all they had to do was paint the BoP blue and call it a ‘Klingon fighter’ and no one would have been the wiser.
Why change the color? Wasn't it the first green ship to be used by the Klingons? And no Romulan ships were green at that point.

I wonder if CGI will reduce the need for makeup and changing the actors skin tones or eyebrows. The tech that was used in the Marvel movies, they can use that to create future aliens or reboot Star Trek to be all about the United Earth and its spacefleet. Set it in the Myriad universe where Earth was a xenophobic system in the 22nd century, where they apply to join the Instellar Coalition in the 23rd century but they tell humans to piss off.

Color it to better match the bluish color of the K’T’ingas from TMP, and the lighter blue of the TOS D7s.

Yeah, I couldn't find it online but I know its in one of the DVD extras.

I did find this one:

Oh, yes. As I recall, I think most of the DVD & BluRay releases of ST09 had different extras at different stores (Target, Best Buy, etc.). Kind of annoying. I've never seen that short before, so it must be from one of the other versions.

If that's the case then yeah, Chekov is an asshole and he's a much less likable and less sympathetic character if he's knowingly comparing the Klingons to black Americans in the 1960s, and justifying his own racism by identifying with white segregationists. Not to mention he says that right in front of Uhura.

Pretty much the first part of the film paints Starfleet as assholes. Unsettling, but there it is.

   You're trying way too hard to find excuses to be offended.

Or maybe you're trying too hard to not appear offended by me supposedly being offended.
