The OFFICIAL ST:TNG Theater Screenings In July 2012 thread

I saw TWK in theaters about a week before "First Contact" came out -that at a midnight showing. A lot of fun and would do something like that again.

Also nice was the applause and cheers the old, grainy, archival footage of Gene in one of the featurettes -as would be expected.

Except for the few rows immediately in front of the screen, our theatre as almost sold out. I never would have guessed for Kingston. Reading all the posts, I find it funny that we all seemed to have a good chuckle at all the same places. It was a very worthwhile event. Next Monday, our theatre is showing "The Wrath of Khan" on the big screen. Going to that as well.

It was the same here in Ottawa and they're screening TWOK next Monday too.

I had a blast and really enjoyed all the special features. I hope they do this for every season!

The last time they had this type of 'event' - many years back for the release of the TOS BR editions, I drove to Ottawa to attend. It was packed for that one as well.

Ok so a little more info since i have more time:

The theater was about 40% full, not that odd around here as I've been informed by numerous businesses that it's not a "ST" area here...meaning demand for videos, books, etc.

There was a lot of giggling at the right moments, during minor jokes, glances and so on by the crew in the episodes. The "shut up Wesley" scene got applause...

I loved the documentary and the gag reel scenes had people laughing as well. Thought it was the best STNG doc I'd seen so far.

The only downside to me was the sound was tuned a bit low for my taste. My wife on the other hand hates lound theater sound so she was as happy as a clam.

There were no defects in the picture, and no errors. I thought the picture was set properly and made it look more cinematic. My wife said the picture looked great and colorful within 30 secs of the first teaser. The show often looked like it was shot for movie screens, even if certain details didn't stand up...but surprisingly, a lot of the sets looked fantastic, including the bridge...which to me didn't look like it needed the facelift in Generations...it was terrific.

The audience appeared to enjoy it, there was applause at the end. Pretty amazing for a quarter century old show. STNG, you still got it...and better than ever!

I'd like to confirm that Tampa theater-goers laughed hysterically at "shut up, Wesley".

Honestly I think this is a shame, because if ANY episode sells the idea of Wesley as an innate genius it's this one...

Well, "Shut up, Wesley!" was in "Datalore" where his "innate genius" wasn't quite as on display as it was in "WNOHGB4" and he was being a bit of a little prick, though he did have a point that had he been an adult officer his objections and comments would have been treated with respect.

Wesley's ridiculous sweater in "WNOHGB4" got laughs as well as much of the interaction between Kazinsky and the crew (particularly when he mocks the "We might as well let him try!" comment from Argyle.)

It was just overall a fun, fun experience being with a bunch of fans during this screening and I do hope it happens again. Hell, maybe at some point they can do the BOBW two-parter or something. This was just an awesome experience.

A BOBW screening would sell out much more rapidly and consistently, also it would be Awesome! This time only 1 friend and I went, for that, I'm sure at least 8-9 of them would be in.

TNG 25th anniversary by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

Sydney's cinemas hosted the anniversary event last night. Several cinemas around Sydney (and other Australian capitals), in fact, and the Dendy, Newtown, managed to fill two cinemas in the one complex. So pleased I'd dieted enough to fit into this old favourite top again! It seemed a fitting sweater to wear.

And, I just found out that this fan-printed Data "sloppy joe" from 1988 (artwork by Lana Pennington-Brown) is to prominently featured at the beginning of Chapter 12 in the forthcoming book, "The Complete Unauthorized History of Star Trek" by Robert Greenberger!

I sent an e-mail to Fathom asking when the next Star Trek screening would be. Here is the response:
"Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to see you as excited about this event as we are! Unfortunately at this time there are no additional plans for Star Trek events. However, I suggest visiting www.fathomevents.com periodically, as all updates and changes will be found there."

They can't say whether or not there are plans until they announce something, or at least organize where/when it'll be. They need to announce when season 2 will come out, then something may be announced for another screening.

I don't see him being a prick at all, he saw evidence that Data might be Lore...and he wasn't listened to.

Our theatre in Mississauga was about half-full I'd say.

My favourite line was the one about Beverly knowing how to "turn them on".

Of course "Shut up Wesley" is always fun too.

Personally I found the showing very grainy. But I guess that's to be expected. It seemed to be playing off a Blu-ray disc.

Oh and Wesley's sweater too...

Excited for Wrath of Khan on Monday.

Would really love to see BOBW in the theatre...
