So now it is time for the final part.

*RULES*

Give what you consider to be the best/your most favorite episode ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. And enjoy!

"CROSSROADS" - 0
"ASYLUM" - 0
"DREAM CATCHER" - 0
"GHOST IN THE MACHINE" - 0

As mentioned before, the fact that none of the episodes on this Finals list is really bad... it really shows just how good this series is.

My first vote goes to "DREAM CATCHER".

I just tend to like this one a bit more than the others.

Been here before.
Voted for "Ghost".
Doing it again.
Because it's got so many fun holodeck bits, and an intriguing overall plot.
Plus karaoke Murf.

I'll second "Ghost". On my Netflix rewatch, it stood out as an enjoyable episode. The things I liked less about it the first time I watched it, such as Murf, didn't bother me on the rewatch. And the reveal at the end was pretty good.

I can't resist the charm of the singing Murf in Ghost in the Machine, so it's my first vote. :D

I will vote for "Asylum", which was a pretty good kickoff for Part 2 of the series.

CROSSROADS" - 1
"ASYLUM" - 0
"DREAM CATCHER" - 2
Except you seem to have voted for "Crossroads" instead. Oopsie! Since you said "Asylum" and that's what your description fits, I'm going to take the liberty of correcting the tally.

"CROSSROADS" - 0
"ASYLUM" - 1
"DREAM CATCHER" - 2

Dream Catcher is next for me. It's a good problem for the crew to overcome early on in the show's run.

"CROSSROADS" - 0
"ASYLUM" - 1
"DREAM CATCHER" - 3

For me, also "Dream Catcher". It had gorgeous visuals (for example, the Protostar descending into the atmosphere), the confrontation of the Prodigies with their deepest desires was nice and Gwyn's entire escape sequence was also enjoyable.

"CROSSROADS" - 0
"ASYLUM" - 1
"DREAM CATCHER" - 4

I'll give a point to "Crossroads." Just rewatched it and I like that one quite a bit. It resurrects a total trash character in Okona, and has some fun with him. I was surprised & refreshed by how quickly they had our characters interacting with the real Janeway. I liked their use of the Xindi. And that snow planet looked fantastic.

"Asylum" bugged me for playing as comedy Barniss Frex's solitary assignment at the edge of the galaxy. When such assignments became a Trek trope, society did not understand how brutal that kind of isolation is, bordering on torture. It's something the modern shows should not have Starfleet doing -- particularly as a punchline.

I realize this is absurd, but I also get annoyed with Denobulans being peacefully integrated into "present-day" 24th/25th Century Trek, because I had this whole fanwank in my head about why they are so crucial to getting humanity started in space in ENT, but never seen during TNG/DS9/VOY, and having them around casually in that era ruins it.

But, of course, "this side character complicates my favorite fanwank" is not actually a flaw of the episode. But it annoys me anyway! :bolian:

"CROSSROADS" - 3
"ASYLUM" - 1

I'm going to go with Crossroads as well.

Though neither are bad episodes, one has to come last. In Crossroads, I'm not a fan of the bungled meetings of Jankom and Dal, but the episode was otherwise good with the Protostar being hidden and Okona returning.

Asylum was good while on the space station (I liked Barniss Frex quite a bit, and his conclusion about sabotage was not entirely unreasonable at the time), but the intro with the whales was a bit on the meh side.

So,
"CROSSROADS" - 4
"ASYLUM" - 1

Which I think makes "Asylum" the winner, correct?

Prodigy really doesn't have a straight dud episode yet. I do think a lot of the serialized plotting is off, and kind of strangely twisted to appeal to both kids & adults in a way that leaves it a less satisfying story for everyone. It works in the broad strokes, it's nowhere near the total mess of serialization offered by Disco seasons 1 and 2, but there's a lot of little flaws, and consequently that adds a notable blemish to most of the episodes.

So I'm never walking away with that "THAT WAS PERFECT" feeling I have gotten from "Subspace Rhapsody"/"First First Contact"/"The Last Generation"/"Empathalogical Fallacies"/"All Is Possible"/"Those Old Scientists"/"No Small Parts"/"Hegemony"/"Reflections"

But I'm never getting that "The Red Angel"/"Perpetual Infinity" feeling either...

I think I'm gonna go watch a Prodigy now. I think my rewatch has reached "Masquerade."
