Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

Excellent episode. Might be my favorite so far
This is what I wanted to see in the sequels. Dealing with remnants of the Empire who are still very dangerous.

For whatever reason I've been assuming they won't go there, but how would they do it? CGI? Hamill is too old to play Luke in this time period and a recast would suck.
CGI cameo. At the end of the series Mando passes Luke some info that Palpatine is alive and cooking and Luke goes off in search of him which we learned about in TROS.

So as of the last episode, we've seen all the footage from the trailers, starting next week we're going in completely blind.

There's a massive difference between books and filmed media. The former appeal to only a tiny niche audience.
Sure, but the books also tie in to the movies and shows, so if something keeps coming up in the books, there's always a chance there's a reason for that.
And even then, TROS tie-in books will soon be a thing of the past.
Not all of the background on Palpatine is coming from TROS books, some of it came from DK's The Star Wars book, which is a general overview of the whole franchise.
I honestly think Disney is going to be moving away from the ST. It's a closed loop. It's not an era in the franchise that lends itself to spinoffs or midquels or side stories or anything like that.
It lends itself to that stuff just as much as the other trilogies do. There is still a lot of time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens that can be filled in, and you could probably still fit in some pre-TFA adventures for characters like Rey, Finn and Poe. There are probably at least a few ways you could squeeze in some new adventure for the different characters between the movies.
And Rise of Skywalker had a fairly open ending, with the Finn, Rey, Poe, Chewie, Rose, Lando, and new characters like Zori, and Jannah all still alive, so there's plenty of opportunity for more adventures for those character. Now that Rey's a Skywalker Jedi, I find it hard to believe she's going to just spend all of her time wandering around Tattooine alone. And there's a pretty good chance there's probably still some bits and pieces of the First Order still around that could easily cause trouble.

That's pretty close to how I'd imagine the show ending.

Wow, this last episode was GREAT! Everything I enjoy in a Star Wars outing.

People may think me crazy, but overall I've enjoyed 'The Madalorian' (including season 1) WAY MORE than the last 8 Star Wars feature films, and no, I ain't kidding.

With everyone focusing on the dark trooper reveal. I wonder if we will see shadow troopers?

It's from the sequel of the game jedi outcast that introduced dark troopers. These are force sensitive vat grown storm troopers created by a faction of the imperial rement.
Infact the first mision of that game bares similarities to this weeks episode of the mandalorian. In the game your task with taking out a imperial remnant communication base but discover it's a secret lab experimenting on creating force sensitive troopers.

Gideon could be trying to make both dark and shadow troopers.

So, who wants to bet that Dave will make some kind of LotR/Gandalf reference or allusion in the next episode? He seems fairly fixated on the notion of connecting Ahsoka with that kind of architype. If so, one wonders what great task she must fulfil before "passing into the undying lands". Finding Ezra feels like it might just be part of it...

Side note: So in this analogy, is Sabine Aragorn?

That would make the Darksaber, what, Narsil?
I mean it already has an Excalibur vibe going for it...

In all seriousness, I do tend to think that if (and I stress "IF") they're going to go down the rabbit hole of retaking/rebuilding Mandalore, it should probably be Sabine on the throne when all is said and done. Mandalore needs a fresh start and Bo-Katan for all her faults and growth is still tied to the warrior code of the past. Sabine is a Mandalorian raised with the old traditions but was also taught by a Jedi and seems to have taken part of that philosophy to heart.
She may represent the balance Mandalore needs to stop it from swinging from one extreme to the other. always at war with itself.
I could even see Sabine (alongside Ahsoka?) founding an order of Mandalorian Knights. Not necessarily force users, but dedicated to using the martial skills and discipline of the super-commandos for the defence of others, not conquest. Mandalorian honour, Jedi philosophy. That's a bit beyond the scope of this show though.

I've seen some suggestions that Dyn might be the one to eventually take the throne...but I just can't see it. He knows nothing of the people of Mandalore or their culture, so he could hardly be able to lead them, let alone rule. That's not to say he can't have a role to play in reuniting the clans, I'm fairly confident he'll be a central figure.

Dyn might be a good representative for the "This is the Way" types (chosen because I suspect he'll likely be the one to return the Darksaber to Bo), who will demand representation in a new Mandalore, but yeah, he won't sit on the throne.

I doubt they'll "demand representation". Remember that as far as they're concerned, THEY are the ONLY Mandalorians. This isn't some under represented ethnic minority or religion, it's a fringe extremist cult that lives in secret hidden compounds and indoctrinates "rescued" orphaned children.

Dyn's trajectory doesn't seem to be bringing them in from the cold so much as broadening his own mind and beliefs.

I think The Siege is one of the best eps so far, crisp editing and interesting story. I had no idea Carl Weathers also directed- If you had told me when ROTJ came out that Apollo Creed would make one of the best SW productions I've seen so far, I'd have thought you silly.
I know people will disagree, but I'm finding the show much more interesting now that it seems to be tying in to the origins of the First Order and the Sequel Trilogy. I would think we are near the time Palpatine's clone and his wife are going on the run with baby Rey.

If anything, now that he knows that the Children of the Watch are a fringe cult, and not the majority of Mandalorians, I could see him eventually abandoning it's precepts and joining up with other Mandalorians.
