The ending of The Die is Cast

might be one of the most satisfying ends to an episode in Trekdom.
The part where Odo and Garak are chatting in Garak's bombed out shop is great writing and acting

I agree, one of the reason why it is in my opinion the best Star Trek show

Another way the Dominion managed to be scary... the Tal Shiar and Obsidian Order thought they had the Founders dead to rights, but were actually playing into their hands. After seeing that one, you think it's probably amazing that the Dominion didn't traipse through the Alpha Quadrant without slowing down.

I think it goes beyond that. There were changelings in the Tal Shiar and Obsidian Order who deliberately pushed along the attack on what they thought was the Founders home world, so they could be ambushed and greatly weakened all at once.

I love that scene. It's fascinating to me later finding out that people took it's meaning one of three ways.

The use of the mirror provides great symbolism; they reflect each other a lot more than either of them previously realized. Although I believe the use of shadow for Odo was necessitated by Rene Auberjonois feeling under the weather and the scene being shot with his stunt double with Rene recording his dialogue later.

Where did you pick up that info from?

To be honest I don't remember. It was years ago. Maybe I saw it on Memory Alpha, but it was probably removed eventually.

A situation like this probably is less than remarkable. The director probably filmed the scene with a reader or double saying the lines, planning to film Auberjonois later in the reverses when he became available. The latter might not have ever happened. The directed was just following standard practice, but the scene had to remain as-is when circumstances intervened.

What were the three ways? I think the special features talked about one of them, but I actually don't remember the ending symbolism all that well.

Just a refresher on the dialogue:
ODO: Garak, I was thinking that you and I should have breakfast together sometime.
GARAK: Why, Constable, I thought you didn't eat.
ODO: I don't.

One is that Odo is being a prick because he doesn't eat, so it's like a non-invitation.
Two is that Odo is asking Garak out for sex.
Three is that Odo is just asking Garak to come hang out with him, like what ends up happening in "Way of the Warrior."
I'm sure this came out of a comment thread on AVclub and I'm not making fun of people taking different meanings from scenes, just that I always took it as straight forward, as an olive branch from Odo.

I think it's just because Odo has taken an interest in Garak. Not romantically, just as someone interesting to converse with.

I took it as "I don't eat but I'm willing to sit with you while you eat so we can have conversation." I don't think in the 90's they would have had a man proposition another man for sex that openly. And for that matter, why would Odo have sex? His species doesn't reproduce that way.

90s TV would not have a man propositioning another man at all. Maybe if it was a movie on late at night.

Changelings have some sort of intimacy, we saw with the female changeling.

But I don't imagine changelings have the same sort of desire for sex solids have. Why would they? I mean there's intimacy between changelings the way they do it and then there's sex for solids. Why would a changeling want sex?

To please his solid partner, maybe.

Odo might not due to him not being as good as shapeshifting as other Changlings but one more skilled could likely create a penis with nerve endings and circular system that would allow them to enjoy the experience like a real solid though any ejaculation would just be apart of them and would at some point need to return and rejoin the Changling. Which sounds like it would be very pleasurable for all concerned to be honest.
