The Doctor's voice

I've heard tell that there is a distinct Saskatchewan accent to the ears of anyone who grew up in Ottawa, so...

Had a hard time understanding him last episode. When he goes rapid or starts doing that darn whisper voice that's so prevalent. (Well that pretty much everybody .. Cant understand when they whisper.. )

Hm...could he pull off a convincing Batman?

I think this week was the first time I heard the Doctor say his own name "M'Benga out", pronounced mmm-benga.

Other characters kept pronouncing it muh-bengna and I didn't think that sounded right. I'm no kind of expert on Kenyan languages, but I thought it should have been (at least) em-benga or just mmm-benga.

This is the same universe where Chekov's speech impediment, that somehow isn't curable by Starfleet medical technology, prevents him from saying the 'v' sound except when pronouncing his own name "Pavel Andreivich Chekov"

Speaking of Chekov...I question the competency of his history teacher/professor.

I watched the fourth episode and I had trouble making stuff out again... but for other characters this time, and only at the start. I had no trouble making out what M'Benga was saying. So I guess I can understand his accent fine, it's just they had him talking too low or they didn't do the best job of picking him up on the mic.

Yep - just watched episode #4 and M'Benga was perfectly understandable, while I still had issues with Chapel a couple of times. I'm blaming it on sound mixing issues at this point.

Cheers, Ray and Kaelef. I do not know if I am going to stick with this series (for reasons beyond this particular issue, if anyone cares), but if both/either of you could please report here for the next two or three episodes, I would appreciate the effort.

Yeah, I have to put on captions when watching the show.

And Paramount + needs to do something about the frequent buffering. It's annoying as hell.

Haha..Good Point....

I thought I had a slow connection or something. Lol....

How does he compare to the original M'Benga? I don't have my Blu-Rays on hand and it has been ages since I saw the one episode (were there in fact two?) that featured the doctor specializing in Vulcan medicine; YouTube is no help in this regard, by the way.
