SyFy cancels Eureka

Damn it. I hope it at least gets a decent wrap-up.

what kind of wrap-up does it really need? People want to see Jack and Allison get married? Perhaps the same for Zane and Jo?
While satisfying to shippers, these plots aren't necessary.

The only thing I really want to see is Beverly Barlow in custody. If they make that happen at any time, the series is concluded satisfactorily for me.

What about the return of Nathan Stark?

Or the governemnt finding out that they're from an alternate time line and need to be locked up in cages in area 51?

What about the Star freaking Gate crossover?

Sad news. I really like Eureka. :(

Sanctuary is just about as old, right?

Eureka is two years older.

I trying to figure out how they got five seasons?

The shows from fall of 2010 were branded 4.0. I was expecting this fall's season to be 4.5, which pretty much follows the pattern for season 3.0/3.5.

Season 5 is next year's season, not the current one.

Stark has to stay dead for Carter and Allison to get their happy ending.

With more and more people being let in on the fact that they crossed over from an alternate timeline, I don't think anyone is going to let it slip, or even return to the previous timeline.

What about the Star freaking Gate crossover?
LOL. was never gonna happen.

Damn, that's disappointing. I love the show because of its quirkiness on all levels (science, humor, drama, characters). I haven't seen any of the episodes of this season but here's hoping we get a proper series finale.

What is it with SyFy and cancelling after five seasons?
If that was something SyFy could be accused of, then I would have gotten my goddamn fifth season of Farscape!!! :scream:

Let be clear, Eureka is in Season 4 right now, to be specific 4.5, since they aired the first 10 season 4 episodes several months ago. I believe they have 5 episodes left (completing the 20 episode season 4 order) then thats it. the way Syfy spaces these shows out it's easy to think there are more seasons then there are.

I like Eureka but i have no problem with it ending, i think the show has run it's course creativly.

I've never watched it. After SGU I've decided to finish out Warehouse 13 and then be done with Syfy. I've avoided Being Human and Alphas. Maybe I'm missing out but I just can't get behind the channel anymore. I'll watch Blood & Chrome on blu-ray or DVD.

What a bummer. I just got into this show! Over the last couple months I have been netflixing the DVDs. I am caught up to the current season and am waiting with bated breath for those to come out. That's always how things happen, my run with the show may have been short, but it was a lot of fun. And that was the best part. It was fun, light sci-fi, not the dark dreary stuff thats so big now. As one of the previous posters said you feel happier having watched it. I think thats a fitting tribute to a great series.

Incorrect. Eureka is currently in season 4 and has 5 episodes left. However, season 5 was ordered months ago and is almost finished filming. Season 5 consists of 13 episodes. A Christmas special and then 12 episodes to air later. SyFy has decided to end after that season rather than pick Eureka up for season 6. They just decided to announce the decision now so the producers could have some hope of closure, rather than waiting halfway into season 5 airing when everything would have been completed months before.

I didn't like Eureka since the pilot.

Still, they've already canceled their main flagship series: BSG/Caprica and Stargate.

I'm surprised they'd even cancel their fallback. Granted, 5 seasons isn't a "bad" run, but still....what is there to fall back on? An unproven 2nd BSG prequel due next spring?

As of about 2 hour ago, Alphas is in the Eureka Universe.

As noted, above.

I'm rapidly losing interest in skiffy. I won't deign to capitalize the first letter.

But I agree with the poster that the main closure I want regards Bev Barlowe.

I'm a big Eureka fan and I'll be sad to see this one go. Alphas and Sanctuary are plain dull so if they also cancel Warehouse 13, I can't see much of a reason to watch the channel anymore. I'll give Blood and Chrome a chance but I'm getting weary of wasting my time on their shows only to see them cancelled before the story plays out.

Who cares? The Carter/Allison pairing has always seemed forced to me. Drives me nuts.

And frankly, Stark doesn't have to stay dead...it's not like Allison would totally drop Carter and run back to him if he was Eureka-magically resurrected. The dude died. She moved on.

I miss Stark. I miss his Stark-casm. (I'm sorry...that was really lame...)

And dang it, this sucks! I'm confused though...is the season airing now season 5 or season 4.5? Is there just the rest of this season left to air or is there one more after that?

This is season 4.5. Season 5 will air next year. SyFy announced this cancellation 1 year ahead of time.

Syfy are batshit crazy. It's one of their highest rated shows! A show as cheap as this has to be profitable while still pulling over 2 million viewers, what are they thinking? And for the record, I don't like nor even watch the show, I just think Syfy are mental...
