Except that the 20th Anniversary Edition doesn't come close to being a complete release. It's not even close to filling the 79 minutes that could fit on the CD. That's why I don't include it.
It comes a lot closer than the original soundtrack album did. Still, I'd forgotten how much it excluded until I checked the cue list in
The Music of Star Trek. Most of it is brief bits under a minute, but there are a few more substantial omissions.
I really need to pick up that book sometime. I like the release, but I'm not sure it needed an expanded version of the
Inside Star Trek album. I'd have preferred a second disc of Goldsmith's score (or, at least, a full first disc).
Still, it is definitely an improvement upon the original soundtrack album (that was never released on CD, though, correct?).
