Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Confirmed.

This is suppose to excite me but I am feeling conflicted. Pike and Spock were some of the draws of season 2 discovery, however neither discovery and picard have been impressive with the story telling. i see strange new worlds easily falling into the same trap of generic star trek like discovery and picard.

Hope they make Colt human again though... XD
They'll have Idris Elba in for an episode as Krall and explain how Colt was forced to use his life extension tech on a spiky alien or something.

So, a Pike/Number One/Spock show was finally greenlighted 55 years after the initial pilot was turned down. Surely this must be some sort of world record or something. :rommie:

This is great. I loved Pike and the Enterprise stuff in DSC season 2, so I'm really excited that we're getting this show. I was hoping we would, but I was far from certain.

The should’ve named it Enterprise: Phase II.

It'd have to be phase II.V, or III. Not even because of the fan made Phase II, I don't think they'd want to get confused with the original TV plan.

And then, it's before TOS, so maybe Phase I?

I'm seriously excited about this news. I liked DSC, I loved PIC, I know I'll love this show too.

This is awesome. I loved Anson Mount's Pike and really enjoyed Ethan Peck's Spock, and I do like what Rebecca Romijn has done with Number One even though we haven't seen as much of her yet. I really hope they hold true to the theme of optimism that they mentioned in the announcement. And I'm so glad they went with Strange New Worlds as the title.

Same. That's one of the things I'm most excited about. I love how Discovery looks from the ships to planets, etc and want to see more of those ship designs as well.
So far I haven't had a problem with either Goldsman's and Kurtzman's writing or directing so far. I don't get where the concern is coming from if it's actually genuine.
Wow, you're like a one-person embodiment of IDIC in the fanbase! Personally I'm in the camp that simply cannot warm up to DSC's visual aesthetic, and I'd much rather the original Enterprise actually look like the original Enterprise. Likewise, I've disliked both Goldsman's and Kurtzman's writing since long before either one was ever involved with Star Trek! IOW, the things that attract you are precisely the things that make me skeptical!

Still and all, I'll be approaching this show with cautious optimism. I've thoroughly enjoyed Mount's portrayal of Pike so far, and the concept of the show is just irresistible.

How could they not, it was just a matter of time and money really.

Not surprised at all.

I like the new interpretation of the USS Enterprise 1701 we saw in Discovery.

Money to be made from selling models, including the new D7, perhaps we will see a recognisable BoP as well.

just start transitioning from the Discoprise to the proper Enterprise and I’ll be happy.
They could do that pretty easily whenever they want due to upgrades or battle damage.

I am OK if it stays as it is though.

How dare the writers who wrote Pike, Spock, and Number One in Discovery Season 2 (that were so well loved by the fanbase that this spinoff is actually happening) run this show!
I can't believe it! How are the showrunners who are currently running this show actually run this show too!????

Don't they listen to the fans!

DISC: New Eden had a lot of story threads I was interested in seeing pad out that I was crushed to see dropped when they veered left to chase that "Evil AI From the future" crap in season 2. If New Worlds is more of New Eden and less of DISC Season 2, I can't be disappointed.

Really, really satisfied we're staying in the TOS era. Maybe New Worlds will be the proper TOS sequel Enterprise failed to live up to, until the last minute. I also wouldn't mind soft reboots and retcons to allow the creators to tell interesting stories and riffs, rather than slavish adherence to canon (especially to a canon that freely retconned TOS when it suited them).
