Star Trek Prodigy possible new ship (spoiler)

I see the crew of the Discovery wearing Disco t-shirts, and the crew of the Cerritos wearing Ritos t-shirts, but I don't see the crews of the TOS Enterprise, TNG Enterprise, Deep Space Nine/Defiant, Voyager, NX-01, Stargazer, Dauntless or Titan wearing t-shirts. Clearly this is proof that DSC and LDS take place in their own universe.

Oh, I have a simple explanation for that! :) We just aren’t following any characters with that much panache, fashion-forward, love-my-ship swag into their off hours on TOS Enterprise, TNG Enterprise, Deep Space Nine/Defiant, Voyager, NX-01, Stargazer, Dauntless or the Titan. They’re out there though, who wouldn’t want a fun, cool t-shirt like that?

Nah, I'm glad they're (most likely) going to create a new design for the Voyager-A.

Stop reusing existing designs for hero ships. Be creative.

Well, thanks to there being a new Voyager-A and the Pathfinder-class Voyager-B, we can have the best of both worlds.

I didn’t watch a lot of DS9 but you cannot convince me that there weren’t at least some members of the team who wore one part or other of their uniform again in their off hours. I’m not sure how widespread the popularity in the nineties of those super cute Esleep pajama sets modeled on this exact look was but it proves my point. I mean, come on, you don’t have something that fun in your wardrobe and not, at the very least, wear it as loungewear from time to time, (whether it’s caught on camera or not). :)

Last time they were creative we got that new USS Titan :/
That wasn't creative, it was based off an existing fan design. They just swapped out the nacelles and bridge module.

I think Prodigy was the last show to give us a unique design for the Hero ship.

Creative like every Voyager we've seen having the same basic shape? Even the J.

Let's face it: They're not going to be that creative. They won't design the Voyager-A to look completely different from the original one, or the STO skinned version they call the 'Pathfinder' class as the Voy-B. They're going to retain the same basic shape as the first one, because that's what they think the audience will want to see.

Perhaps I'm being a bit too uncreative, but I am fine with Prodigy going with an Intrepid-class looking ship (assuming that is what they will do). The "pointed arrow" look pioneered by the design of Voyager and seen on the Prometheus, Nova, and Dauntless in VOY has now taken a bit of a back seat as Picard has brought back more of a TMP-era look. I would prefer if Prodigy doesn't follow suit. Prodigy of course gave us pointed ships with the Protostar and the Starfleet Dauntless, and I suspect the Voyager-A will be much the same.

That being said, the writers really need to chill with destroying/retiring these ships so quickly. What happens to the A that we're already on a B by Picard s3? And with the rate they're going through Enterprise's we'll be on the J in no time. I also hope that if we ever see Voyager-B properly it isn't just the STO design. That design is not bad, but it could use a lot more refining.

Really, the only ship in PIC that looks anachronistic is the Connie III. And apparently there's only one, because we saw the entire Starfleet and the Titan-A was the only Connie III there.

Yes, the convoluted mess that was PIC season 3 starship-wise was just silly. Excelsiors, Mirandas, Constellations, Sydneys, etc. lasted 70+ years, and circa-2380-2400 ships last like 15 years? WTF?

Meh, I just chalk it up to "let's go to the next new thing." Now that constant conflict isn't what Starfleet has to deal with (for now) why not build whatever you want?

And no, it's not efficient. It's a post scarcity economy; it doesn't have to be efficient. It can be "Because I feel like it."
