How long will it take for season 2 of Star Trek Prodigy to be released in Canada?

Not really a shock, @trekee1313 already mentioned SkyShowtime starting it in August earlier in the thread. But it's discouraging that Bell isn't even responding to inquiries from other media sites. This just is such a bizarre situation.

We're the country that premiered Star Trek first in the world, but we're apparently going to be the last to get Prodigy S2 (if at all??)

Every time I see that this thread has activity, I come in hoping that there's been an announcement, and every time, I am disappointed. :(
Yeah same here. Guess I'm contributing to that false hope by bumping the thread but a little bit of venting is keeping me sane .

Starting to wonder if theres bad blood between Bell Media and Paramount after most of modern Trek was pulled from Crave in favor of Paramount plus Canada.

What I suspect might be happening (just pure speculation) is maybe the Canadian Netflix is trying to make a play for Prodigy and CTV has been requested not to air it until the matter is resolved one way or the other. At this point, it's the only explanation that could make any kind of sense to me.

I used to wonder if, because this was just a regular TV station, if they were saving it for the new “fall season” and would air it in September. (Do terrestrial stations still do that? I’ve gotten so used to the streaming “anything can drop anytime” model that I don’t even know!) But the ongoing radio silence, along with them seemingly denying that they even have the rights to S2, has just left me scratching my head about the whole thing.

More reasonable than some

Contracts are notoriously tricky things.

The fall season is still "a thing" on terrestrial TV. The networks of course premiere the majority of their new shows in the fall and have their new seasons start then. On cable channels, at least in Canada, the fall season is typically when they overhaul their schedules and when they bring in new programming. Not necessarily new shows, though that does happen, but rather when they begin running syndicated reruns of a show they hadn't run before, or bring back one they stopped running at some previous time.

As for whether CTV could be withholding Prodigy until the fall? It is a possibility, though you'd think if they were they just say so in response to the inquiries about it. In the past, I have found Canadian channels to be surprisingly open about having plans to air a show when asked, even if that show hadn't yet had a publicly announced premiere date. This includes CTV Sci-Fi, at least back in the days when they were known as Space. You are right, the radio silence and apparent denials regarding Prodigy are very unusual.

I'm getting very close to crossing over to the dark side on getting Prodigy S2. One method starts with a V and there other one with a T.

Regardless, I need to see it on a TV not a small screen on my phone.

Just need to decide on when to pull the trigger and which option to choose.

That's great news that there's a confirmed blu-ray release! Thanks for letting us know, @The Wormhole !

Now I have to decide whether to just wait till November, or stick with my original plan of going the VPN route if there's no word from CTV by September. (I'll be getting the blu-ray either way.)

S2 of Prodigy is getting a DVD and Blu-Ray release November 12.

Wait, digital release tomorrow? I wonder if the digital release will be available to us here? If so, I might just get the digital release through Apple TV, so I can watch it without subscribing to a VPN, and then get the blu-ray in November.

Although, if I had to guess, I'd assume the digital release won't be available to us here, since it hasn't aired anywhere yet. But I wouldn't object to being pleasantly surprised.

OMG, it actually is available for us!! $19.99 one-time charge for the season, don’t have to worry about paying for a VPN (or Netflix), don’t have to worry about trying to get an IPTV service if I waited for CTV, and can watch it directly on my TV through the Apple TV app!!

This is about the best outcome I could have hoped for, one easy purchase and it’s ready to watch, only 29 days after most of the rest of the world got it. I don’t normally buy digital releases of TV shows, but I made an immediate exception in this case! :D

Now I just need to find actual time to watch it.

Sorry CTV, you dragged your heels, and now you’ve lost me as a potential viewer whenever you do deign to release it.

Thanks for the info! Good news for some of us in Canada who have Apple TV. Will order it tonight when I get home from work.

EDIT: Now purchased! Will eventually get season 1 and 2 on disc in case itunes pulls it one day

Is Star Trek Prodigy available on Apple TV in Canada? I looked on the Apple TV website and I don't see it listed there.

Season 1 and 2 available. ⬇️

I'm watching it on my 50 inche TV and it looks great. I'm trying to confirm if it's edited though. Each episode is apparently a minute or 2 shorter than what's shown on Netflix outside of Canada.

I'm trying to get help from the Trekbbs community and posted this topic on the general Prodigy discussion thread and created a thread called Prodigy on Nickelodeon. But it's seems the forum has gone quiet now that we are a month removed from S2 being released on Netflix in most regions.
