"When the plan goes awry, the crew must improvise. Meanwhile, Gwyn discovers a dark truth that will forever jeopardize their quest toward salvation." - TrekMovie.com

‪‪I love everything about this show.

The folks that guessed Janeway’s “heck of an upgrade” included precautions preventing reprogramming/commandeering by the Diviner and Drednok nailed it.

The Caitian kid was a scene stealer, and when they finally spoke, my heart melted. “Yeah, we now have a voice. Good for us, bad for you.”

‪‪I had guessed the scene from the preview for this episode that came up yesterday was Gwyn being shown Solum, and sure enough, it was. The images of Solum were absolutely gorgeous animation.

And as many of us had guessed, The Diviner blames the Federation for the destruction of Solum, and the reason he does is fantastic. ‪‪I didn’t see the twist that first contact caused a civil war amongst their people coming, and it’s a great wrinkle.

And the catch preventing them from going to the Federation is a very interesting one. It makes the central arc of the show seem to be…figuring out how to get around it, maybe?

And finally, Zero’s big move was…unexpected to say the least, and also, incredibly badass. I underestimated them, and love them, and feel for the unintended consequences of their actions, for both Zero and Gwyn. It turned out okay, but it had to be hard on Zero to feel responsible.

‪‪I can’t help but wonder if/when Gwyn will get her memory back.

And we finally got to see Dr. Noum, Commander Tysess, and even hear a little of Jameela Jamil’s Ensign Asencia, and see Admiral Janeway!!

‪‪I cannot wait for the next 10 episode arc of the first season, and the second season to follow.

What a fantastic start to a series this has been!

I need to think about this episode a little bit more. My first impression was it was a little rushed, and I wish they had gone the full half hour. It is an interesting twist that the Protostar can't go to the Federation and seeing the real Janeway at the end was pretty cool. I also loved how Assertive Rok is now, and the Caitian was awesome. My only hesitation was Gwyn having no memory of looking at Zero and the whole weapon on the Protostar angle. It was a good episode but I think I expected a little more. Tomorrow I might feel a little better about it.

Maybe I need to see these two episodes back to back and it might give a better picture.

The thruster packs kept thrusting downwards continuously, which should have pushed them upwards all the time.

Kitty kiddy kills the droid! :D

Interesting uniforms and commbadges! So the AGT/Visitor/Endgame commbadge is in the prime timeline now. And the timeline of early 2380s uniforms and badges is getting even more messy! XD

That ship looked very similar to the fake Dauntless...

Another bloody uniform variant. I wish they were more consistent with them.
I guess Chakotay wasn’t from the future then

Seems like the 2370s combadge just had continued use alongside the variants, and maybe will be gradually phased out with an upgrade, similar to what Starfleet does with uniforms. We already see both combadges being used alongside one another in Lower Decks when Tom Paris visits the Cerritos.
latest

Also, the stardate given in this episode sets the ending in early 2384. Very cool that time is advancing.

EDIT: Oops, just saw someone else already pointed this out!

And how it meowed before :luvlove:

Since Gwyn doesn't remember that, they all don't even know...

Great episode.

I feel kinda bad about the Diviner. He was single-minded, and fanatical, but his goal was to save his people. And they left him in Tars Lamora? By himself? Is there even food there? (I'm hoping that was actually a holodeck program and he's actually aboard Protostar.)

So happy to see the real Janeway, and I look forward to meeting her crew. But Dauntless is an ugly ship.

True! Though, ‪‪I figure it’s only a matter of time before Gwyn remembers. She did seem to react when Dal said they’d head for the Federation like a piece of her might still remember on some level.

I’m very excited to see where this goes when it returns. It could be quite a while until we get the remaining half of the season’s 10 episodes, but I’m really looking forward to it.

I don't like them adding yet another uniform/badge variant in the 2380s, but the Dauntless uniforms are close enough to the Lower Decks uniforms for me to suspend disbelief.
Not that far off from peak Berman era Trek. In 2374, we had three different “standard duty” Starfleet uniforms being used in different parts of the galaxy simultaneously. Characters even changed uniforms back to the TNG style when getting on and off DS9 in “Emissary” and “Homefront.”
