The Canadian government forces tv broadcasters to include "local news"
It's literally stuff no one watches but the government is forced to offer it.
Also, what made the Bell deal so unique is that it was perhaps the only company with a network actually broadcasting new Trek rather than just streaming it.
I've always wondered why CBC doesn't just broadcast older seasons of its Trek shows, as it could be a way to broaden their viewing numbers and help people discover it .
CBC has nothing to do with Trek. Not in decades.
Or I guess there's the really convoluted "Kevin Bacon Six Degrees" a friend of mine suggested in that since it's a modern day take on Sherlock Holmes, you could think of it as an Americanized Sherlock, which was produced by former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat thus making it "genre adjacent."
It's too bad as it was great on Crave and the only reason I have crave
It's almost certain the Trek library is going to move to Paramount+ Canada this summer and SNW will also move over after its current season is finished airing. This is a similar approach to what CBS is doing with the Trek library in European markets.
They did something like that in the fall of 2020 where because of the pandemic none of CBS's regular shows were ready for their usual premiere dates in September, so CBS ran the first season of Disco. Because of the writer's strike this year, CBS has said they are looking into broadcasting other Paramount+ shows, but have not as yet indicated which ones they might air,I've always wondered why CBC doesn't just broadcast older seasons of its Trek shows, as it could be a way to broaden their viewing numbers and help people discover it .

Trekmovie said:Crave has confirmed with TrekMovie that it will “phase out” Star Trek content as of August 1st, including the legacy shows. In fact, subscribers can already see warnings within Crave about the different shows leaving between July 24 and July 31. The one exception is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which is currently running its second season. Bell Media has confirmed that Strange New Worlds will be available to stream on Crave until the fall.
The message on the show pages that said the shows were leaving Crave in July is now gone.
Unless one is a Videotron cable subscriber in Quebec. All online access to Bell Media specialty channels (which require inputting your cable company account number to access) are withheld by Bell from Videotron because the owners/boards of each have been in a “death match” over fees and other things for nearly 20 years. As such, I have to make sure to PVR anything on those channels or it’s gone after it airs. Just FYI for a small subset of Canadian viewers. But atleast it will still be available for those subscribed to CTV Sci-fi
Oh, there it is. they moved the show descriptionIt just looked to check, and I still see the dates there.
