Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Speculation Thread

I don't think Tilly needs to be chief of anything. She's on the command track, like Lt Saavik in TWOK. She'll probably be a generic bridge officer under Burnham's tutelage, kind of like Worf and Geordi in season 1 of TNG.
She might even be given the night shift (like Harry Kim) at one point after she gets the experience needed. She might reach that level by the end of the season.

Also I hope the poetic monologues stop and are replaced by Captain's logs / personal logs from various crew members.
I'd very much love hearing a personal log entry from Saru at one point. Or perhaps the new captain's first thoughts about his new assignment. Come to think of it, I'd even like to see a captain's log entry actually being recorded in real time.

Georgiou and Mudd team up to rescue Lorca from spore space. Together they take over the Discovery, restoring Lorca to his rightful command. Now an unstoppable force of conquest and evil, Lorca takes to wearing the sparkly TOS MU captain's uniform and fills all that empty space on the bridge with Orions. Show gets way more awesome.

We will pick up a new captain on Vulcan, who, over the course of the season, would turn out to be evil (either being evil all along or becoming so through character development), thus cementing the running gag of Discovery always having villains in the captain's chair. After Saru comments on this to Cornwell after the climax, she eventually gives in and simply lets him have the position.

The new Vulcan Captain turns out to be a Romulan spy. It also turns out the Logic Extremists are all Romulans trying to disrupt Vulcan society.

They'll classify all this to keep the "integrity of Vulcan" or some nonsense.

*If* they don't want to recast Pike, they can probably CGI Jeff Hunter pretty cheaply over one of their flickering holograms for a brief scene. Then have the Discovery deal with the Third Officer, Chief Engineer Whatever, because of some engine issue the Enterprise is having. Then they can transfer Whomever as their new Chief of Security, and he can make constant annoying references to the Enterprise throughout the season.

Spock won't show up until the cliffhanger for Season 3, when he will hail Michael for some mysterious reason, and we only see the back of his hologram head. Or maybe cries out telepathically or something.

I'm actually looking more forward to the possibility of seeing Number One than I am Pike or Spock. Pike is just The Stoic Captain and Spock is Family Baggage & Drama.

Whereas Number One is a character who could've been fleshed out a lot more. Being as mathematically inclined and detached as she was supposed to be, she'd make for an interesting contrast to Burnham, either comparing notes or Burnham being more impulsive than Number One.

Plus DSC's original Number One meeting TOS's original Number One.

As a consequence of the Mystery Spore that landed on her, Tilly will start exhibiting unusual symptoms.

The first will be inexplicably developing an interest in Kasseelian opera.

Speaking of Tilly and the spore, maybe it carries MU traits and she will slowly begin to exhibit the personality of her MU counterpart.

Given the way DSC likes to bonk-bonk their symbolism with such clever devices as knots and tethers, I fully expect that the faith vs. science issue will deliver us a character whose actual, literal name is Faith, and will be very much questioning all the science.
