It's a captain's seat, not the position of teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, even though Lucius Malfoy sat in it for some timeWe will pick up a new captain on Vulcan, who, over the course of the season, would turn out to be evil (either being evil all along or becoming so through character development), thus cementing the running gag of Discovery always having villains in the captain's chair. After Saru comments on this to Cornwell after the climax, she eventually gives in and simply lets him have the position.
I Think it's clear the new captain of Discovery will be Number One from "The Cage" and we will get a Chief Engineer as regular since they won't be using the spore drive. Jason
Wait, didn't Alex Kurtzman say Malfoy was to be the next captain? It's a captain's seat, not the position of teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, even though Lucius Malfoy sat in it for some time
yeah, on After Trek. which was a nice, funny way to sidestep that particular questionWait, didn't Alex Kurtzman say Malfoy was to be the next captain?![]()
We'll know this because just before he does this he'll crush two communicators. He'll meet Georgiou again and it will be him holding the knife and fork this time. Because eeeeeeevil.
As an ensign?I think I just realized, that Tilly probably will be the new Chief of Security in S2...
probably. there is no one else around to fill the position and she's the only one without a clear purpose or departement. we already saw her on away teams twice and she was compentent on both.As an ensign?
So, a kind of...search for Spock? That’s crazy talk.Maybe the Enterprise has lost some of its crew and needs assistance to retrieve them.
Thus we give Sarek a personal stake and reason to hang around for an episode or two, and yet Spock is a non-character because he's among the missing/captured.

and look how their career turned out. Worf was chief of security before the end of the seasonkind of like Worf and Geordi in season 1 of TNG.
Maybe the Enterprise comes across an "abandoned" fortress, and Pike gets ambushed by one of their warriors. Or, they are tricked by an advanced species that has an incredible power of illusion.Maybe the Enterprise has lost some of its crew and needs assistance to retrieve them.

I don't think Tilly needs to be chief of anything. She's on the command track, like Lt Saavik in TWOK. She'll probably be a generic bridge officer under Burnham's tutelage, kind of like Worf and Geordi in season 1 of TNG.
- Burnham will find a greater peace with herself and be a bit more chill and likeable.
I hope they let her be less wooden/Vulcan in S02. Also I hope the poetic monologues stop and are replaced by Captain's logs / personal logs from various crew members.
