Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Speculation Thread

I think there's a good chance the Season 2 Captain will stand out -- in their own way -- the same way Pre-Reveal Lorca did.

What I'm hoping they don't do is have DSC go through Captains like Pegasus on '00s BSG went through Commanders.

We will pick up a new captain on Vulcan, who, over the course of the season, would turn out to be evil (either being evil all along or becoming so through character development), thus cementing the running gag of Discovery always having villains in the captain's chair. After Saru comments on this to Cornwell after the climax, she eventually gives in and simply lets him have the position.

It could be like Harry Potter and the defense against the dark arts teacher position. Each season (movie) was someone new in the role!

If we see Tyler, what if -- as an in-joke or homage -- he wears an outfit resembling a TOS Klingon uniform?

"See? We've got your TOS Klingon!" Then they move on after the joke's over.

Put me on board the Number One train. I would love that. A nice tip of the hat to Majel (& Gene) to have that explored. I would really enjoy any of The Cage crew making more than just cameos. Perhaps she is in charge temporarily if Disco gets detoured.

As for S2, fine with Saru in charge or going back to #1 if the original #1 takes over.

Hoping the science vs spiritualuty angle is all about Stamets & his believing Culber is still there even though he cannot prove it. Contact-ish type of stuff that shows the two are not mutually exclusive rather than a literal struggle of Vulcan logic extremists vs religious groups.

As for the Crew, beyond the captain's chair I hope Detmer, Airiam, & Owosekun get expanded roles. Lt. Detmer is listed as Helm/Ops, Lt. Cmdr Airiam as spore ops/science, & Owosekun as Ops. Note Lt Rhys at Tactical & Lt Bryce ar Communications.

^ I forgot about the Logic Extremists. They need to do more with them. Maybe when Sarek finally arrives on Vulcan, the Extremist Situation has grown worse. It wouldn't surprise me if work in a reference to TNG's "Gambit", which is where the Extremists first came from. Tallera wanted to use the Stone of Gol, which they could work into this.

I think the Klingons will want to undermine L'Rell. I'm convinced we haven't seen the last of them. They're intimidated by her but they'll also want to overthrow her and be able to have the finger on the button of Qo'noS for themselves.

I wanted to say I think the Enterprise will be around for a few episodes, but now that I think about it, I actually think it'll be around for an entire arc, even though it won't be the main focus.

I love the concept of Logic Extremists. It validates the fanaticism of scientists as being like any other kind of fundamentalist.

My speculation of the start of season 2 :
- Both Enterprise and Discovery are answering the same top priority distress call. While Discovery got the Enterprise distress call, The Enterprise got the Discovery distress call. And that mystery will become the first problem that will bring us to the season 2 drama.
