Smallville- Best Season to start watching from?

First i have watched the first two seasons and then stoped. I couldnt handle Lana and also the show was on the same time as other shows i was watching, think enterprise hmm not sure.

But seen the preview for series 10 and looks good, and seen the episode last season with Hawkman.
So what later season would be good to start back watching? Want to get to the heart of the story and not all that romantic Lana crap.

Thank you! Go Penguins!

Well, I would say avoid the "Freak of The Week" season (1), but you said you've already seen that, so, I'd say start at season four when Lois joins the show. Of course, you'll need the season three finale because of the cliffhanger, but, every season ends with a cliffhanger, so, you'd probably just be better off starting at the beginning. Season 1 is really the only bad part of the series, but it DOES have Chole, so it's not all bad.

I kind of liked season 1. I actually watch some with Lois and didnt like her. Came across as brash . Hope she got better. Still think Chole and Clark should of gotten together and ditched the whole Lois bit since not like any movies are going to be based off this so not totally go in a different direction?

Thought Clark wouldnt get the suit till the final episode. Thought he get the suit and then trip over a brick and fall off the roof and then learn to fly on the way down. Dam rumors

All seasons are good IMO, season four really gets things going pretty good. Season eight was a real let down, but I just finished season nine and I was really impressed. In season nine I didn't really see an episode that I didn't like, I got that warm fuzzy feeling agian from when I first started watching. I have my hopes up for this last season. I know they will hold back on flights and tights until the last few episodes, but I think they will definately give up a lot too.

Eh, I'd just say watch all of it. If all us fans of the show had to suffer through the crap, new fans should too, because most fans of this show anymore revel in, roll in, enjoy the stupidity and amongst all of that crap there's quite a bit of good. But, yeah, the Clana crap is a lot to take.

The problem is there really isn't anything you can skip. There's a lot of crap in season 3, 4, and 5, but then the shows three best episodes come from those as well. And there's a lot of other good stuff scattered in there as well. It's really hard to pick and choose. And, sort of like Trekker said, what makes Smallville "Smallville" is the crap--it just isn't it without it.

if your gonna watch it watch it, if you aren't then don't...

its hard to pick and choose, there are some really good eps, and some pretty lame ones, but even in the lame ones there might be some story arc you've missed out on

i've suffered through every single episode, and i'm still watching...

ok i start from season one. Im layed off so trying to fill in the time till i find another job. Might check out warehouse 13 too. They got good ratings so they must be doing something right. Supernatural season 1 is alot better than i remembered. Though honestly most shows are better when you dont have commericals.

Yeah I would be inclined to agree and suggest watching the entire series, all of it's ups and downs. You aren't really going to avoid bad "Smallville" by avoiding certain seasons, there are bad episodes in every season. We're a suffering bunch us Smallville fans.

Heard that Lex isnt coming back for the final season. U would think he would an it would of been nice.

When did Lana leave? Start after that point. The Clark/Lana 6 seasons of staring at each other was a drag.

I didn't enjoy the show until Season Eight. At that point the original writers/creators were gone and the most annoying character was gone and you-know-who was gone. But more importantly the show grew up and changed. They moved to Metropolis and the Daily Planet and more importantly almost every single episode introduced a new comic book character. It's still not a great show at all but it definitely became watchable at last.

I would argue just the opposite. No one has really grown up, they are all still written and act like they're in high school. Clark should have asked Ben Hubbard to take care of the farm already and got himself an apartment in Metropolis. Comic book characters have been introduced sporadically throughout the series not in "almost every single episode" it's more like "almost every single episode" is a bad episode.

Though honestly most shows are better when you dont have commericals.

Or those annoying onscreen pop-ups that drove me away from TV viewing altogether.

Thank god for DVD's.

Yeah, I hate the large "banner ads" on TV shows these days.

You should do like I do and just wait for the DVD's.

Although, to be honest, I haven't followed anything on TV since ENTERPRISE was canceled, so I don't know if those pop-ups still happen.

Some networks are worse than others. I think Fox isn't too bad (they have smallish pop-ups in the corner) but CBS has large annoying ones that come up.
