At this point, I think he's just glad to finally get an appearance in modern Trek. He was going to be in Picard, but that had to be scrapped because Prodigy had plans. Which may not come to fruition because of the limbo Prodigy's future now exists in. Lower Decks probably was his last chance, unless the cadets in the Academy show want to create a Harry Kim hologram or something.

Which may not come to fruition because of the limbo Prodigy's future now exists in. Lower Decks probably was his last chance, unless the cadets in the Academy show want to create a Harry Kim hologram or something.

That would be completely doable. Maybe a holosimulation of a combat maneuver Captain Harry Kim pulled off when he was commanding the Rhode Island during the incident at the end of the last season of Picard, that saved his ship from destruction. Such a sim would be a natural teaching tool.

I have a feeling that Picard would have killed him off unceremoniously, so I'm happy he's at least gotten Lower Decks.
