Lower Decks is unaffected by the writer's strike since its writers are affiliated with TAG (Television Animation Guild) rather than the WGA. However, if the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) goes on strike, that will impact the show, since obviously the entire cast belong to the SAG.
It should be noted however, not all animated TV shows are with the TAG. I know shows like Simpsons and Family Guy are WGA, and I believe Prodigy is also. Though even then, animation has such a long production timetable that the effects of the strike won't be noticeable for the short term. I know Simpsons and Family Guy have announced their fall premiere dates and the only thing standing in Prodigy's way at the moment is its cancellation and erasure for Paramount's tax write-off.
So Tawny Newsome was protesting for the WGA as a writer, but that's separate to what she does as an actor and it's a separate guild who handle the writing for animation... Huh. Didn't know that. Thanks!
