We start off in sickbay, where Spock, M'benga, Pike, Uhura, La'an, and Delia are standing as Chapel walks in with a hypospray. She says that she jury-rigged Spock's re-vulcanization serum to do the same to them, only "in reverse". She then injects something into Pike, Uhura, La'an, Delia, and finally, herself. All the while, Spock is saying the sensory changes are short, as is the feeling. He says that he will guide them through the transformation, which, again, is short. Once they stop overfeeling, the eyebrows and ears will show up, and Spock suggests they take a deep breath and count to three. Once they get there, it will be over.
Spock then counts to three, and once he finishes, Pike and the others (except Delia) drop to the floor, and start moaning as they experience a sensory overload. Whatever's happening, Delia isn't affected, whatever Chapel injected didn't work on her. M'benga points this out. When the sounds stop, Pike, La'an, Uhura, and Chapel have been completely turned into vulcans, with the Spock-speak, dull voices, and hairstyles to match. (Pike's in particular looks like a bad 90s do.)
When questioned why the serum didn't work on Delia, she only says that she did a lot of drugs back in the day. With Delia not turning Vulcan, Spock decides to replace her on the mission, and Delia says she'll check on them from the Bridge. The four vulcanized staff then tease Spock for only being half-vulcan, saying that four-and-a-half vulcans will be on the mission. (Visions of Kelvin Spock being bullied at school come to mind.)
We then get a badass walking sequence of the five in Vulcan clothes wielding Vulcan tools, with the music and camera angles to match. They then step into the transporter room, where Pike calls out "Number One, four and one-half vulcans to beam down. Energize." They beam down to the planet, and repair the Tezaar Nuclear Power Facility in record time, surprising the bridge crew. They then ask the Enterprise to beam them back, which they do.
After they beam back, Pike and the others get injected with the de-vulcanization hypo. They then run into a problem, likely the focus of the episode: The de-vulcanization serum isn't working. They're stuck as vulcans, possibly forever.
