Q Makes No Sense

Yeah I'm not a fan of Q and the Continuum either. I just don't like omnipotent crap, no matter what work of fiction.

Also....how arbitrary is their "test to see if a species is worthy to expand into the universe"? Why did they test humanity in particular? I know the Expanded Universe offers some answers, but the show sure doesn't.
I mean did they test the Klingons? The Kazon? The Borg? The Dominion? The Ferengi? The Romulans? The Cardassians?
Hey Q, instead of playing pranks on Picard you might want to do something about the people slaughtering whole planets? Maybe?
And "Trial of Humanity?" There were 3 non-humans (well 2 1/2) on the bridge when Q showed up. What about them? What about all the other species in the Federation?

And why in Picard's time? Why not when Archer set his first foot into space (I mean we would have lost, but well...)

Well all of that just shows that the Q may be omnipotent to a point but they dont have the best reasoning. I always thought the Q as flawed in a way. Kinda like Chuck/God in Supermatural. Hes omnipotent but can be killed and is not totally invulnerable.

At the beginning of Tng back in 87' I was a teen and really didnt like the fact there was an omnipotent character but than came to think that they are flawed and in a small way vulnerable. I ended up liking Q. Voyager expanded on them later. Some of it worked some of it didnt.

Q was testing/guiding humanity.

I can't explain what was going on with Janeway though.

I suspect a bottle of something was involved...

They sure are entertaining, though! :D

How do you know ants aren't self aware?

That still wouldn't stop the aardvark either way. Self-awareness is only one small piece to the 16,500 piece puzzle anyway. The puzzle like the one you think is a great deal on clearance but there's a missing piece or two and nobody's got the time, talent, and/or skill to machine-cut precisely a replacement piece (or to draw in the missing picture bits onto it). Never mind the puzzle itself is not just a metaphor but is also a representation of a Jackson Pollock painting. So the best anyone can really do is guess.

I also tried asking the ants that invade the parking lot every year why they do that. All they did was to get antsy and just wiggle their mandibles in the same simplistic pattern. Which, at best, probably meant to say to say "Hey Fred, look out there's a gigantic and funny looking aardvark in front of me with some chocolate to cover us with, whatever chocolate is, and probably not in a good way." :(

Wait !! What!!??? What!!!!
You murder them!!!????:wah::wah::wah:
YOU are way worse that Q!!!
Way way way way way worse. :weep:
I'm sad now. And you said the word 'chocolate'.
I have to eat a pint of ice cream now.:(

The aardvark did it, not me! And I love ants! They burrow and are natural pollinators getting busy with the plants and even feed on insects that can ruin lawns. They can even distribute seeds. It'd be fun to train them to plant a garden... :D

They are like the Exocomps or Data, you can't just use them at your whim!
Oh nooooooo!
I need more ice cream!

Q might not make any sense, but using the ant example, can't we all see how cool it would be to seem omnipotent?
