Predators Director and Plot Info

^ They tried that, in a way, with AVP:R.

I had heard rumors that there are still plans to do an Aliens Vs Colonial Marines Vs Predator film.

Oh sorry,, I meant the one where the Preds get stuck on the human colony world,,
hehe or maybe Batman vs Pred? *coughs

It is funny to see how directors that diss the previous movies or talk of every form of technical achievement for the movie actually makes the worst possible movies. Remember how the Brothers Strauss were oozing confidence till the release date and when the movie tanked, they literally disappeared. Same thing with McG.

The Bros. Strauss scenes were all badly done homages and ripoffs of the previous films. Strip those scenes out and they had almost nothing.

I certainly don't understand how professionals who claim they are 'fans' of the material can fuck the stories up so badly? The Bro Strauss with AvP, mcG and Christian Bale with Terminator and the worst of it all Bryan Singer with Superman Returns?

I'm actually psyched that the story will take place on Yautja!
Where did it say that and what is "Yautja"?

As nx said, Yautja is the Predators homeworld. I'm pretty sure it's from the video games or possibly the comic books. Robert Rodriguez confirmed the plot will happen there on AICN.

To ObiWanShinobi: Yes, Kevin Peter Hall died in 1991, a few months after the release of Predator 2.

Funny tidbits: JCVD was cast to play the original Predator (aka Not The Alien Rasta), but the production realized that every actor who was supposed to interact/fight with the Predator was already a bodybuilder or a very imposing figure (Ahnult, Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Sonny Landham and Jesse Ventura). So TPTB opted for someone who would be taller than them. And not a bodybuilder. I have nothing against bodybuilders, but to me, what made the Predator work was the fact that he could be very graceful in his movements (climbing from trees to trees, or buildings to buildings). In the 2 AvP monstrosities, the steroid ridden Predators couldn't move gracefully (add to that bad cable works). And it reminded me of Dragon Ball Z when Goku reached the SSJ2 state: Goku saw that even though he was more powerful, his body mass prevented him from having fluidity. The same goes with the Predators.

Didn't Van Damme leave the movie on his own accord because he didn't want to spend the movie running around in a body suit? Good riddance, either way.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a movie with multiple Predators, though. We saw a bunch in Predator 2, but they weren't doing any fighting or anything. The reason why I'm worried is because the Law of the Ninja. Basically, the more ninjas there are, the weaker each ninja is. The fewer ninjas there are, the tougher each of them are. So if you have 1,000 ninjas, they're all going to be weak, incompetent mooks that the heroes just hack through like they were nothing. But if there's just one ninja, then he's going to be an unbelievable killing machine the likes of which has never been seen.

Same deal. When you have one Predator, you can make him an unbelievable bad ass. More then one Predator, though? Well, if the humans are fighting more then one Predator, then those Predators are going to have to be weaker in order for the humans to survive. And frankly, I don't want to see weak Predators. I want to see a species where the average member can take apart an elite special forces team led by Arnold Schwarzenegger. That's what I want to see.

The Bros. Strauss got screwed over by Fox. They had a story idea where (IIRC) it was twenty minutes-ish of Predators and Aliens fighting each other as the opening, but TPTB forced them to do a sequel to AvP with less than half the budget of the first one, do production in Vancouver instead of Prague (where the exchange rate was better), the screenwriter from Armageddon wrote the script, and the Bros Strauss had to supervise work on other movies while filming.

If all that was true, they should have passed on it. That way they don't get the blemish that stinker of a movie is put on their record.
