PlutoTV TNG Update

After cycling through only the first 4 seasons of TNG for nearly a year, PlutoTV has *finally* started showing Season 5 episodes now as well! After re-broadcasting S1 yesterday, I woke up today and flipped the TNG channel on expecting to see a S2 episode but landing on "Silicon Avatar" instead! Been re-watching S5 episodes all day long. It was a strong season with a good run of episodes!

I don't understand the Pluto Star Trek channel. So they play movies, and the first four seasons of TNG. Why just the first four seasons? Why not play the entire series, and just make it the Star Trek channel and add the other classic series to it. For one, it gives it more variety, but more than that, if CBS owns Pluto TV and they were doing the whole Paramount + thing, the series are old enough where it's ok to air all of them.

I've thought it strange how they've operated as well for a long time and asked questions on some FB groups and nobody seems to know what the deal is. Not that I'm complaining but they were showing S1-4 for nearly a year- to the point where I've nearly memorized the first 4 seasons. Now it looks like they're just cycling through S5-7. And TNG is the only Star Trek series they're running major parts of and the only movies they show are TVH, GEN, FC, and NEM. They've also been occasionally showing a couple of the Trek documentaries like The Captains and Chaos On The Bridge. On the Paramount+ channel, they have shown a few episodes of Lower Decks, Picard, and Discovery. I am beginning to suspect, based on my experiences with PlutoTV is that it basically serves to "whet the appetite" for subscribing the Paramount+ streaming service. Almost as though as though it serves as a "sampler" for viewers. They have just enough for you to enjoy on a regular basis a few seasons or episodes of some of CBS/Paramount/Showtime programming, but they'll never give us everything because they want subscribers to use their streaming service, where we have full access to their content. Wouldn't kill them to show us a little TOS, DS9, VOY, ENT once in a while, along with TNG.

I don't think it's a coincidence that they stopped at the end of season 4 and it being exactly 100 episodes. 100 episodes used to be the benchmark for syndication.

Maybe the contract PlutoTV has for STAR TREK is blocks of 100 episodes a time.

If they do TNG season 5-7 and DS9 season 1, which is 98 episodes total (as close as you can get without going over), and start the cycle over, this could be an explanation.

I've noticed that they've now been starting on Redemption Part 1, so 99 episodes.

Edit: I've noticed that they've been skipping over a few episodes for some reason. I don't think they've shown Descent Part 1 (S6) or Homeward (S7) in re-airings.
