Should the thread title have a question mark instead of an exclamation point? Isn't there usually an official announcement of the release date further in advance?
A web search is turning up Oct. 21, but I don't know where that's from.

I'm thinking They may just release the first episode as kind of a teaser that day, to see how the overall reaction to the show goes.
I'm not sure They are all that confident as to how it is going to be received, especially by the older fandom. (They need as many eyes on this as They can get)

So when is Ep 1 of Prodigy officially launching?
I don't believe that there has been an Official date given yet.
Though that might change on the 8th. (Star Trek Day)
I think that's just extrapolating based on the finale of Lower Decks being due to air October 14.
Yeah, I extrapolated that date several weeks ago.
Therefore, if it does premiere on the 21st, I demand compensation for the scheduling decision.
I think it's one week before we get more news on Prodigy. Star Trek day is a week from tomorrow (West Coast time). They wouldn't start the new show almost unannounced.
An official source retweeted then deleted........so I edited it and added rumor at this point. There seems to be a huge push with TCA and next weeks Star Trek Day. Perhaps it is just the first episode on Nick or something......
I doubt they care what the older fans think (they're not the target audience).
Yup---I feel like they are VERY confident and if they DO release it with LDS running too, that seems to say they are excited to get it out there.

I highly doubt that the Paramount+ streaming service has as big a number of children (the presumed target audience) watching as Nickelodeon does.

As many? No. But I imagine a good portion of those middle-aged Trekkies have families.
As recognition of their subscribers.
P+ is constantly diversifying their content. They already have Rugrats and Kamp Koral as original kids programming with supposedly high viewing numbers. Presumably, Prodigy will be a further test of this.
That's probably what will happen: Paramount+ we'll give her a release date for Star Trek Prodigy, and quite possibly a few other of their Star Trek series.
Disco S4 recently finished principal photography. Picard has been wrapping up S2.
It may be a while before we get release dates for Disco and Picard.
