What's upcoming? I'm a little out of the loop.

Babylon 5: Too similar to DS9.
BSG: I actually want to check out the 2004 show's 2-part miniseries to see if I'll like the series. Worth checking out?
Dark Matter: The group amnesia thing kills it for me.
Expanse: Too political for my tastes.
Farscape: I have this on my Roku watchlist, and I've seen some of S1. Does it get better in later seasons?
Star Wars: I lost interest after Episode 7, a remake of the original movie disguised as a sequel. I've heard mostly bad things about Disney Wars.
Babylon 5: I find it different enough. You have a really nice blend of politics, character driven, and intriguing conflicts. Add on not knowing all the history but getting to experience it organically and it works for me.

Dark Matter: never seen it. No opinion.

Expanse: heard amazing things and definitely in line with my personal sci-fi enjoyment. Never struct me as too political.

Farscape: darker as it goes, plus more serialized. The practical effects are great, and there's always an edge of goofiness at times while having some intense character drama. Can't recommend it enough.

Star Wars: you might like Andor and Rogue One for darker fare.

Yeah, you absolutely do not want to skip the 2-part miniseries. But if you end up hating it, give 33 a shot first before you give up on the show completely.
I can do that. When I start a new series, I try to give 5 episodes a short before bailing. Usually takes a few for a show to find its footing.
