No Man's Sky

It's Minecraft in space, with optional main story. The multiplayer is like Journey, but far rarer.

Don't go into it looking for a multiplayer experience. It either doesn't have one at all, or it's some kind of "mingleplayer" thing in which you can't meet friends anyway.

This is a solitary, single-player experience.

That's the issue I had with it Sean Murray said you "could" meet other players online but the chances of that are slim, but you can't see them, so he's either lying or does not have a clue what he is on about. That's what has people upset.

I played some more today, I still stand by what I said about the patches, they fixed a couple of minor annoyances, it made the game fun again for 2-3 hours....60 dollar fun? No. I think my biggest complaints may never get fixed, it's not multiplayer...I could give two blehs about friggen multiplayer (Honestly, I don't know why everyone needs every game to be multiplayer) It's the feel of the game, It just doesn't feel like a living breathing thing....Like I've read in other places, it's miles wide but only an inch deep. All planets have bazillions of outposts with some helmeted alien who looks at an Ipad and won't get out of his chair? like a space hipster? where's Hoth? LV-426? Degobah? planets with rings? Gas Giant's? Nebulas? Space Stations with NPC populations? Sky that's actually black with stars? Space that's actually black with stars? Nothing feels connected in this game....at all....I can only hope that eventually the game gets patched into something that's close to what it was originally intended, and that maybe, because so many people bought the game, it will have a huge mod community and will get modded into something special. I have it on PC, I would have been seriously bummed if I had gotten it on PS4

I think I shall wait for a price drop....... Feels like you are paying for a full priced game and getting a half broken one.

I wish people would not pre order games, because I feel it makes developers somewhat content to not make a better product since they already took your money.

The game is not broken by any means.

There was a mixture of overblown hype and imaginations running wild with some people who don't understand how games are made, and with less-than-optimal communication in PR.

@BillJ has it right though, it's not a game for everyone.

I still think it's a bit pricey...... I am interested but will probably buy it when the price drops.

All I can say, is that I've definitely gotten my $60 dollars worth out of No Man's Sky, and I've barely scratched the surface.

The game is single-player. It has a few "shared universe" features, and it might be possible for two players to encounter each other, but Murray has always said the possibility is "remote" and that it definitely won't be your friends.

Murray has never suggested any kind of co-op or friend-based MP experience. Never. He has vaguely hinted at players possibly encountering each other but also said it was very unlikely and would probably never happen for most players.

The Steam page explicitly lists the game as single-player.

It's not Murray's fault people's imaginations ran away with them based on things he never said.

Angry Joe 's review pretty much sums up my opinion, especially at the 10 minute mark where he goes through the list of things Sean said that did not appear in the game.

We all must be hearing things.

Now if the price drops a bit I just might buy the game. It does have a quirky fun look. But not at the moment. I think the price is a bit much.

You do realize each of your posts does not automatically erase your previous posts, right? We heard you the first time. You think the game is too expensive.

By the way, $60 is the typical price for a new AAA game, so I'm not sure why you are so fixated on it.

$60 US is a lot over here.

Found a moon that has a ton of aluminum. Made a couple hundred thousand in units there, so far. Have 27 slots on my exosuit, but still have my first ship. Have about 1.3 million units collected.

I'm enjoying it. I play for a couple hours or so each night. I found a patch that helps my framerate a little, and I mean a little. 1 second of gametime is now only 2 or 3 seconds real life instead of 4 or 5.

I'm getting ready to leave my 3rd star system. I'm not focusing on exploring everything on every planet. I did identify all the animal life on 1 planet in this system I'm in now, but that's only because over half of the animals were all grazing in the area I initially landed at.

One planet in this system has venom sacs all over the place. I have made about $1 Million just harvesting those. The sentinels are quite protective of them, though. Another planet has these glowing balls (can't remember what they are called) that you pick up. Again, the sentinels come out of the woodwork to attack if I snag a single ball.

I also found an underwater building that had no door. Couldn't get in. This appears to be a common glitch from what I've read on Steam's board.

The framerate is the only thing that is really killing me over this game. I do hope that gets fixed. I'm still loving it though. Yes, its a bit lather-rinse-repeat and it's not a multi-player shoot-em-up capture the flag team play game. The overall story plot is very slow and "Star Treky" in the sense that it's a cerebral story with alien monoliths and a dead civilization.
