Yearly reminder that TOS aired a day earlier on the 7th in Canada.
I’ll be celebrating tomorrow
If I can celebrate American Independence on July 4th every year no matter that this is not the day the Declaration of Independence was signed, I can continue to call September 8th Star Trek Day. (I will NOT call May the 4th Star Wars day. There are lines.)
While Paramount's Star Trek Day offerings may have been more low key this year they also felt more complete. Just going by the Star Trek Day trailer it felt like there is love for ALL Star Trek. For one thing there is Shatner. But no Nimoy? I realize it's very Captain-centric. There is one shot of the full TNG cast on the Picard D bridge. I won't quibble. It gave me all the Trekkie feels and that's all I need. I'm a simple man.
There is also only ONE ship. Oh. There is that silly little Discovery thing that Booker flies. OK, ONE ENTERPRISE. And while it's the one that Paramount is currently making, at least it's a version of the good old 1701. (No bloody.)
And I don't know what it looked like before, but the Paramount+ Star Trek page is looking pretty darn good.
I hope everyone had a good Star Trek Day. This fall is the 60th anniversary of The Cage as well as the Enterprise herself.
I celebrated the 50th anniversary of The Pirates of Orion, the 30th anniversary of Tribunal, and the 35th anniversary of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
Give me warp in the factor of 5, 6, 7, 8!
