News New movies to start releasing in 2022

It does make me wonder if Cameron will ever actually complete his Avatar sequels. I’d be perfectly okay if he didn’t.

But excited it’s not too long a long time before we return to the galaxy far, far away on the big screen.

Could be, but I think Rian Johnson has already been working on his trilogy for a while now, and I'm not sure how much they've done on their stuff.

I wonder if the 3 new movies will Rian Johnson's trilogy? That seems like the most obvious choice.
Could also be the rumoured Knights of the Old Republic trilogy from the Game of Thrones producers.
So the chances of a Kenobi movie reduced to effectively zero.

Hopefully there's truth to the reports of a TV series being in the works, then.

Sadly, it does seem Solo has effectively killed the Anthology films.
God, I hope not. It's not the anthology concept that failed, it's the topic selection. There was never enough interest in a Solo standalone to warrant a big budget movie, and there was this outdated notion that a Star Wars product cannot fail (which was already proven wrong with the theatrical Clone Wars movie).

They could have been shifted towards the streaming shows. That gives them more time to explore a character. A limited Kenobi series could work.
It might even be preferable to a feature film.

Yeah. I think the emphasis on streaming services might take more precedence, especially after Disney's acknowledged failure in Solo timing and marketing.

I hope so. I would like to see something new. Not very interest in a stand alone movie of Obi-Wan, for example.

Episodes 10,11, 12. Finally the saga will be complete as it is told in the book of George.

Or something else.

Seems like Disney learned the wrong lesson the hard way. And nuking anthology films; Solo notwithstanding did they forget how successful Rogue One was? It made over a billion?
But yeah, let's deep six those anthology films.
I can hear the executives now: "Oh, fans only want to line up in theaters to see a part of a trilogy!"

Yes, that's Hollywood reasoning, and very human. One bitten, twice shy and all that.

When it's my millions on the line I'll be more harsh regarding this choice.

I really hope they do go back to the anthology movies at some point, I really enjoyed both Rogue One and Solo, and I like the idea of standalones expanding the universe.

There won't be any episodes 10, 11, or 12, The Rise of Skywalker is the last "Episode" movie. They will be moving on to different stories now.
