Secrets from Gibbs' past are revealed when the NCIS team has to travel back to his hometown to resolve a murder investigation.

A fantastic episode. The "incest" twist was a good one but this episode wasn't really about the case. It was about one of the most itneresting characters on TV: Gibbs. I love NCIS' case episodes but when they do an episode like this, as they often do, I'm reminded why I always think of this show as more than just a crime drama. I don't know of any other crime show that treats its characters so well.

Remember: Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama sandwiched in between. So the incest is appropriate.

Getting to know more about Gibbs put this episode over the top. Easily the best of the season so far, hopefully we find out more about the NCIS team member families in future episodes (have they done anything with Tony's family yet? I remember he also has problems with his family).

Excellent.
I love how Dad Gibbs introduced himself to Ziva...

Getting to see a bit of what Jethro was like as a young man. His meeting his wife at the train station ... what a sweet scene that was!

I suspected the husband of being responsible for the attack as soon as I saw him...

Saving the best for last... THE CAR!

By far the best episode of the season. NCIS is really never about the crime unless it's a multiple episode storyline.

What the... incest?

Tony and Ziva are actually related. But they only found out after he knocked her up. :p

Maybe I'm misremembering but wasn't Shannon the name of Gibbs' daughter? I took the scene to mean that Gibbs named his daughter after Shannon from the train station, who obviously was a big influence on him ("The Rules").

Shannon was the wife, Kelly was the daughter.

The first time they showed her in the window display, I had a gut feeling it'd be Shannon, but the rules spouting at the end gave it away before she said her name.

Do you think NCIS is the kind of show that would end with someone dying (Gibbs? Ducky?) or would it go out on a happy note?
