NBA 2010-2011

Another nice game by the Lakers. I remember when beating the Kings used to mean something.

Being a Lakers fan in Sacramento almost got me killed back in 2001-2002....

It can be rough being a Lakers fan in enemy territory. It's like you have a target on your back.

How about those Warriors. It was an ugly game, but it was a damn fun game to watch. Really loving the fact they they have big men now, with Lee and Biedrans, who was absolutely incredible on the rebounds tonight. Also really like this Dorrell White, Gazuric, and of course Curry and Monta were awesome tonight. Curry on his bad ankle pretty much took over that game and those final 3 minutes were tension filled, and almost playoff like.

Now they're 4-0 at home and go on the Road touring the East. Hopefully they can carry this momentum with them.

Nice win on the road in OT against Portland for the Oklahoma City Thunder. :techman:
Ha! I didn't know the Thunder had won this game. I was wondering why my little Porty friend in a Lakers forum had suddenly disappeared.

She and I had been having a running argument about my belief that the Thunder had sub-planted the Blazers as the best up and coming young team in the league and were a bigger threat to the Lakers in the playoffs than the Blazers.

A couple of nice road wins for the Lakers after two close losses.

I hope they can stay healthy this year. This is a very good team. I really enjoy watching them play.

:techman:

Aaaaaaaand......the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Celtics on the road with Kevin Durant sitting out the entire game due to a badly sprained ankle.

:wtf: Talk of the Thunder's demise seems to have been premature.

Warriors played well last night but the Knicks couldn't miss. That Galinari dude was automatic from 3 pt that I was thinking if he ever got the ball just foul him. Of course they all might have been 4 point plays but he was nearly unstoppable last night.

I didn't know Lee meant so much to this club. He's injured and the team that looked promising in terms of defense are showing signs of the previous 10 years where defense on this team was non-existent. Looking forward to when he comes back.

With respect to the Thunder win over the Celts, I think the Thunder got one of those psychological boosts that teams sometimes get when they are forced to play without their star. Still, the C's should have won this game.

I am beginning to think that my preseason prediction, that the top teams in the east would be better than the top teams in the west (with the exception of the Lakers), is going to have to be retracted. The Jazz, Thunder, Spurs, and Hornets are cutting up the best eastern teams.

Lakers are a bit scary. They are winning, albeit against weaker teams, without playing a lick of defense and with two key frontcourt players out. When this team decides to play some D and when Andrew and Theo get back, 3 peat, here we come. Frankly, I think if the playoffs started right now, the Lakers would breeze to the championship.

How about Gasol going 10-10 against the Warriors yesterday? Not that he was launching 3 pointers or anything, but still...

A nice win muted by the tragic fall and death of a young boy. I can't imagine what his parents are going through right now. That's tragic...

Is anyone else enjoying the 9-8 start for the Heat?

No doubt they can get it together and improve, but still...I'll bet the fans in Cleveland are pleased....

The Heat not being successful can only be good for basketball in the long run. It'll discourage superstars from making little alliances and congregating to certain teams.

If this keeps up for the Heat - well, if they don't get what they hoped for this season - I wonder what all those folks who have said that the only reason Phil Jackson has won championships is because he had the best players?

We're seeing that it takes more to win than just great players.

You have to have the right combination of talent in the right positions and there has to be team chemistry. That's an underrated intangible, underrated in the extreme. Team chemistry is a huge component in the success of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

^Agreed, Miami is 3 alpha dogs plus a bunch of nobodies.

Look at how that worked for the Yankees most of the decade.

Maybe they just need time to gel together, but so far they are remarkably pedestrian.

If Spoelstra gets fired, who really wants to take that job besides Pat Riley? Who wants to go into a situation where the big contracts basically have the run of the land?

LeBron and Bosh have a combined zero championships and while neither does Spoelstra, I pine for the good old days where the coach's word was law and players who made the most money or had the most skill didn't control the organization.
