It didn't feel real until I watched the parade today. This team was left for dead in July. We were calling for Brian Snitker's head on a platter because of his terrible bullpen. They literally couldn't string two wins together. Lost one of baseball's best hitters. Lost an All-Star caliber pitcher to punching a wall. Picked against in the division. Picked against in every postseason series. Picked against in every game of the World Series. This is a dream come true. I've been waiting 26 years. I sat through some terrible teams the entire time I was in college because we only got a handful of channels and a PeachtreeTV simulcast was one of them. I had to watch the Infield Fly game live. I had to watch the Nationals win a championship before us. I had to watch choke after choke after choke in the postseason. This is a dream come true.
So who's gonna start the offseason thread?
I'm sure Timby will cook something up.
And they're off to a great start by picking up Wade Miley!Wait Until Next Year: Year Six of the Next 108 Years
It's a great tradition for the Fish; they win a World Series and then promptly hold a fire sale. Same thing happened in 1997, except there Jim Leyland hung around another year and watched the team go 54-108.Joe Girardi won it in 2006 and then was fired. Marlins are quite the organization.
