Leonard Nimoy Passes Away

typing thru tears right now. so many memories. part of my youth (and adulthood) just left me. :( thank you leonard.

In many people's lives, a fictional character comes along who gives them the will to live. My time was age 8. My parents had split, my legal custody had shifted, and I was in the care of people I didn't know and who didn't know me. I was genuinely alone.

Spock became my hero. Leonard Nimoy gave life to a character who represented my way out of the darkness. It's nice to have a savior, and it's good to have a friend. But this was a time when I needed something in-between: a role model. Never mind that it was an invented one. I used Spock, and I'm grateful.

So I'm starting something today. Everyone for whom the character of Spock gave hope, and everyone whose lives Leonard Nimoy has touched in some way, say this with me:

I Am Spock.

I never knew the man. I never shared a word with him. I was never in a room with him. He's not family. He's not a friend. He wouldn't have known me from Adam. So, it's not logical, but I'm very very sad right now and my heart is heavy.

Thanks for the joy you gave us fans, Mr. Nimoy, though I'll not be able to watch "Star Trek" with exactly that same joy. It will take a long time for me to view any TOS episode or movie without letting out a melancholy sigh when you first appear on screen.

Man, the ending of The Wrath of Khan really packs a punch now.
"He's really not dead, as long as we remember him." - Bones
I may have to have a TOS marathon this weekend, and watch some of Leonard Nimoy's strongest episodes: "Amok Time," "Journey to Babel" to name a few.
R.I.P. Mr. Nimoy. You will always live long and prosper through Star Trek.

He had a long and prosperous life. Let's honor him, and his journey to the unknown. He'll be missed- -dearly.

I'm just terribly numb and sad. I've just seen his passing announced on the news. I guess it was coming, but it's just so sad, especially that he only had one more year before Trek's 50th.

Leonard, you lived long and prospered. Eternal peace to you, Sir.:(

Just heard this on the car radio while I was driving home in a snowstorm. Almost had a wreck.

I got to meet him at a book signing for "I Am Spock" back in 1995. For that, I'm most grateful.

Think I'll watch "This Side of Paradise" tonight. Or "Amok Time." Or "Journey to Babel." Maybe all three.

This is seriously heartbreaking. He was one of my heroes. And, sadly, our heroes our slipping away. :(

Rest in peace, Sir. You were amazing and you will be greatly missed.
