Klingon Death Yell...

We did in DS9.
Worf did the yell after he killed Gowron.
Were there other instances of this?

It would have been interesting if Worf insisted on doing this every single time anybody died in his presence, whether Klingon or not, as his Klingon way of paying tribute to the deceased.

Which was the only other time we saw it, as far as I know. Kind of fitting that it would be the last Klingon centered episode for Worf, as "Heart of Glory" is the first Klingon centered episode with Worf.

I wonder if that was done on purpose...

It's clearly something reserved for worthy Klingons (Jadzia definitely counts), and not for random opponents. And unworthy Klingon opponents abound, too: the Albino gets no howl, say.

Regardless, it might have been fun to get it a bit more often. And, say, for a fallen Romulan or whatnot, as super-special courtesy.

Because the death howl is done for honorable warriors who are on their way to Sto-Vo-Kor. Duras...wasn't. He's going to "the other place".

It could be argued that when K'Ehleyr and Jadzia died, it wasn't a proper death howl, just Worf emotionally screaming...he didn't open their eyes like he did with Gowron and that other dude. Or maybe you don't do it for females?

Exactly. He wasn't really doing the Death Yell... he was screaming in pain because he lost his mate and his wife, respectively.

With Gowron, he certainly was performing the Death Yell.

Actually, it would have been even more interesting if, every time anybody died in any scene, Worf ran in from out of nowhere right at the most serious moment just to do the death howl.

I always found the death howl to be pretty cool. I used to play D&D and had a minotaur warrior who I patterned after the Klingons and he would do the death howl when a companion or another minotaur died.
