A lot more be believable than Celia Rose Gooding.Fair enough.
How did you handle Zoe Saldaña's version?
Really? I mean, to each their own, but I find Celia Rose Gooding far more believable as a young Uhura than I ever found Zoe. I also find her a far more endearing character than her Kelvin counterpart. Indeed, I find Uhura to be one of the best characters in the series.A lot more be believable than Celia Rose Gooding.
Actors cast as characters previously played by other actors don't need to be clones of their predecessors. Sure, it can be fun when they are, but it should never be a requirement. What matters is can they act and deliver an entertaining performance, and the answer to both questions when it comes to Celia Rose Gooding is Yes
Yes, she is a good actor, but I at least expect her to somewhat resemble Uhura, like Ethan Peck resembles Spock after makeup. After all this is the same person at a younger age, that looks nothing like Uhura. BTW I did not say a clone.
I find her performance and the way she's written far more believable and interesting than the previous versions of the character.
Physical resemblance is not the name of the game here. These people are playing characters, not impersonating earlier actors in the roles.
Agree with your first statement, but disagree with the 2nd. But of course respect your opinion. I feel when doing a prequel of a epic series like TOS, the main characters in said prequel should at the least, look somewhat like those they are portraying.
LOL*squints in Zephram Cochrane. *
Peck looks nothing like Nimoy. Even in full Spock make up. Gooding probably looks more like Nichols than Peck looks like Nimoy.Yes, she is a good actor, but I at least expect her to somewhat resemble Uhura, like Ethan Peck resembles Spock after makeup. If they were playing real people, maybe.Totally disagree, But of course respect your opinion. I feel when doing a prequel of a epic series like TOS, the main characters in said prequel should at the least, look somewhat like those they are portraying.
And he's the least interesting of the Kelvin characters as a result. He seems to exist mainly to produce a little "squee!" from older fans.I feel like these guys are meant to just be modern interpretations of the character, not doing exact replicas of the original. It's like modern Lost in Space to classic Lost in Space. The only one who I think is doing a dead-on impression is Karl Urban as Bones.
Well, yeah, they don't need to do impressions but act as a character in a different place in their lives. A more dimensional person than a caricature.I feel like these guys are meant to just be modern interpretations of the character, not doing exact replicas of the original. It's like modern Lost in Space to classic Lost in Space. The only one who I think is doing a dead-on impression is Karl Urban as Bones.
Not picking on her. Please re-read my post.Anson Mount looks nothing like Jeffrey Hunter. Babs Olusanmokun doesn't look like Booker Bradshaw. Paul Wesley doesn't look like William Shatner, and for that matter neither Dan Jeannotte. Rebecca Romijn only superficially resembles Majel Barrett, while Jess Bush looks nothing like her. Is there a reason you're specifically picking on Celia Rose Gooding?
