I was looking on Amazon and trying to find good reviews. I use to own the boxset and all the boxsets and what I can tell most are about 10$ but I see some are repackged and I was wondering if they ever updated the disks, at some point that gave them better quality or if that is even a thing.

The series might also be available to stream, for example, from iTunes or Amazon Prime. I believe seasons 8-10 are available in HD for streaming. The DVDs are SD only for all seasons. That's the situation in the UK - the US might have better options, being a larger market. For example, I understand the TV movies Ark of Truth and Continuum are available on Blu-ray in the US.

A set of DVDs of all 10 seasons plus the TV movies is £80 from Amazon UK and $94 from Amazon US.

I can’t help you here, but years ago a colleague needed help getting rid of Star Gate SG-1 DVDs.

He’d signed up to the star gate magazine and got 2 episodes a month or something, and spent an absolute fortune on them over the years. He was hopeful he might somehow see his money again. I don’t know if he ever parted with them.

True story.

No, the disc have literally never changed. If you get the complete series be sure to check the packaging, sometimes they damage disc when done poorly.

BTW, it appears to be quite a bit cheaper to buy the DVDs than pay to stream the series. The only disadvantage is that seasons 8-10 in HD are only available with streaming.

I did not know that about season 8 -10 only being on HD through streaming. Is that the Ben Browder years or does it start with the General Jack O'Neil year?

I’ve got the UK “volume” DVDs. Never had the issue with the quality with them.
Waiting for the blu rays.

If you aren't absolutely certain you must buy them and live in the US, the digital channel Comet does a rotation of the three Stargate series and are in a SG-1 phase right now. It's on at 10PM CT, 11PM ET/PT, and 12AM MT and again at 3PM ET/PT, 2PM CT, and 4PM MP the next day. Monday's afternoon episode (which I believe is a reairing of Fridays night time episode) is Season 3, Episode 12 "Jolinar's Memories".

I've seen that on tv. Me I am always weary of things on most tv though because I assume they edit things down to get more tv adds in them. After seeing what BBC did to "TNG" it only made me more convinced that networks can't be trusted with reruns of tv shows. I mean I should have learned that years ago with "TOS" but at least those old shows had a 50 minute run-time I think. How in the world is not possible to fit a 42 minutes run-time of TNG in without feeling to need to chop it down even more. Their is greed and then super greed.

O'Neil is promoted to General early in season 8.

They could turn seasons 1-7 into HD, but it would be expensive.
