Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

I just found out that the Sharks just started Training camp, and that only means one thing. Hockey is coming soon and it's time for another thread for the new season. Can't say I'm all to excited about the new year, but it will come when the season gets closer. Hopefully with Roenick, the Sharks might actually do something in the playoffs and not be the San Diego Chargers of the NFL, Do very well in the season but only setting up for disappointment.

I don't like the black on the Sharks redesigned jerseys. Ity really looks out of place with so much teal. Get rid of the black altogether! On the other hand, that new logo is sharp!

^ Most of the new jerseys suck, unfortunately. Florida's and Philadelphia's, in particular.

I still wish they hadn't changed logos. The new one, while intimidating, looks ugly.

Colorado's new jersey is without a doubt the best new one I've seen. Oh and I'm calling it now, Oilers take the NW. That's right, I said it.

My Penguins are going to be challenged to meet the high expectations that people have for them this season. They are loaded with offensive talent but are only mediocre on defense, and for that reason I doubt they'll be much more than an above-average team this year. I hope I'm wrong and they kick butt

Ugh! I think they're one of the more unfortunate designs. The white one's okay, but the home? Can't believe they ditched the mountain motif.

I think the league should go back to having the white sweaters be the home sweaters. Let the home town fans see the visitor's dark sweaters instead of 41 games of white sweaters on the other team

I really think the NHL needs a shorter season, by about a month on either end.

I mean... the pre-season starts in a few days, yet I'm out here basking in the warm sunshine.

The shorter season could make it more intense as well. Not as much room for errors when it comes to winning.

I've actually made the argument that, since the most exciting thing about hockey is the playoffs, they should just have the post season, instead of the regular season

Or make the preseason the regular season and eliminate the preseason altogether

Ah the playoffs. What are those like again? I seem to recall them happening in the spring sometime.

I'm sure the Canucks will do fine to well in the regular season only to choke in the first round (maybe the second, if they're lucky) of the playoffs. Fingers crossed, as always. They've managed to keep most if not all of their key players this summer, although haven't made many new additions either. The defense could be shored up a little, but Luongo is still solid in net.
