good sci fi movies

LIAR!!!!

Just finished watching Silent Running.

Ewwwrgh-pwagh!

If I'd seen it in the 70s before Star wars, I'm sure it would have been excellent, but there was a time i thought that Ice Pirates was funny... But it's an incredibly poor man's Castaway.

WALL-E totally ripped this SOB off.

When I was more involved here, I always liked you. Now I know why.

Cypher
Brainstorm
This Island Earth
Le Dernier Combat
The Illustrated Man
The Terminal Man (though I think book is better).
Runaway (not a classic really, but I love the cast and cheesy fun)

Man, I've never heard of anybody liking THE ILLUSTRATED MAN. Score, yeah, but movie. ohno.

I'm still amazed nobody has remade Fantastic Voyage, which seems to cry for a brand-new version with state-of-the-art SFX . . . and 3D. (You'd have to ditch the Cold War angle, but that's certainly doable.)

They technically re-did it under the new name, Inner Space starring Dennis Quaid, albiet the story was slightly different than the orignal.

True, but they turned it into a zany comedy vehicle for Martin Short. I wouldn't mind seeing a more serious remake.

The guy who directed NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM and REAL STEEL was supposed to be remaking it a year or two back. Maybe the script didn't work out? I remember talking with somebody -- might have been REAL STEEL's vfx supervisor -- about how when you photograph a miniature badly in 3D it makes it look actual size, and how if you used miniatures for 3d in a FV remake you could make the ship look REALLY small. (there are a couple of miniature shots in RS, BTW.)
