Santa: Hey young man want to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what you want for Christmas?
Me: Naw, I'm good.
Santa: Come sit on Santa's Lap.
Me: I am ok, thanks.
Santa: You are never too old to sit on my lap.
Me: Um, maybe...but I gotta go.

I can't remember the last time I got hit on or stalked by anyone. Though there was this one time when I was in Toronto on a work term when I was in university - I'd gone to the store for cigarettes and was on my way back through the parking lot when a car stopped, a man about 60 rolled down his window and asked me directly if I would like to have sex with him. I don't think I ever said "no thank you" as quickly in my life.

I lived in San Francisco for years and I used to get hit on all the time. I had a guy in my laundry room who I had never seen before offer to give me a "massage". One time I had a guy staring at me on the bus. I gave him this kind of exaggerated smile that I thought was funny, but he thought I was serious enough to follow me off the bus. I worked a temp job with a guy once for just a few hours and by the end of the day he was trying to put his hand on my knee. Once on a train I was going home after a night of drining. The train kind of lurched and because I was drunk I wasn't thinking and I grabbed on to this guy next to me's coat. I apologized, but he just said "oh that's okay you can grab on to me anytime". I think it is because I got this serious bear thing going on.

In college I got hit on by one of my frat brothers. I hit him back, but not in the way he hit on me.
You hit a guy just for hitting on you? He better have been groping, otherwise, that's one hell of an overreaction.
Still, considering Lgm's opinions, not a surprising one.

And yet not sufficient provocation for a battery under the law. :D

(in most states. this is not legal advice and i am not a lawyer.)

I've had stalkers online, mostly teenage goths for some reason, the odd male giving compliments, but nothing too serious apart from one troll who followed me a few years ago spouting abuse on a few sites.

Well yeah, if you post your profile on an online cruising sites for sex you're going to get your case of desperate whacko's. Duh!?

Why do you think it's called "MANHUNT" for?

Yeah, will my pictures are private!
So you saying(with the story you told) as a gay man in a public mall with hundreds of other shoppers and out of all those people, you just happen to be the one attracting other older men and you're doing nothing to provoke it, yet they figured you out and are following you anyway.

That's an unbelievable coincidence.

Yep, it's clearly the victim's fault.

As a straight woman in a public place with hundreds of other women I happened to be the one attracting older men. It just happens. They're horny. It's not exactly rocket science.

Besides, there is something like a 'gaydar'. Sometimes you can tell if someone is gay.

Are you even aware of what types of sites "Manhunt" & "Adam4Adam" are? They're set up for the sole purpose for gay men to hook up for sex. Now the same guy that posts on sites for sex is getting stalked at the mall by the same types of guys he trying to avoid online. He then purposely walks around the mall to see if he gets followed, he does but never reports it. That doesn't sound fishy to you? He even admits that he was afraid the guy knew him from his profile from a sex website. If you up put yourself in that situation by engaging in risky behavior, then you're not a victim.

And he was probably dressed up in sexy clothes too.

Yes, I'm sure he's a member of 3 cruising for sex sites looking for recipes and tips on needle point.

"Oh my goodness, I posted on casual sex websites where everyone is treated like a piece of meat and desperate, social dysfunctional men also post but I never expected any of them to ever come on too me! OMG, how can I be at fault!?!"

So, because he's a member of these sites he's just asking for it/deserving everything that happens to him?

You don't think a site that's devoted to asking complete strangers for nothing but sex, isn't putting yourself at risk?

I keep reading all of these harrowing adventures of stalkers.

I walked around with a sign on me once that said "Please stalk me," but no one would bite. Not sure why. I would even try it at the mall ... that is if I could fit through the front door (they have offered to let me in through a garage, but still not wide enough).

So yeah, I guess I don't have a lot of sympathy. hahaha!

Actually, I don't think it's right to knock someone who had the strange mall experience like Nick had. I actually have a fear of crowds, and some of that fear developed because of people who stalked me in the past.

Trust me, I wasn't being stalked because of my good looks (that would then make this account fiction), but because they had an idea in their head that I was someone they needed to "take care of," and more in a Tony Soprano way than a Bruno way.

I'm just glad I don't do the type of journalism now that I did then. It was not fun, and I get uncomfortable when I can't see all the people around me.

Although a former host of a popular radio show once gave me some advice on how to create a barrier between myself and everyone else mentally, and that has helped me in places like Comic-Con a lot. But usually, I stay away from crowds.

Now if someone wants to stalk me that isn't twice my age ... wait, that would be true science-fiction. At least that brought this thread on topic. =P
