Favorite 'Little' Moments Of TNG...

Farscape One

We all remember the big scenes... Q putting humanity on trial, Picard defending Data's rights, Worf killing Duras, Picard as Locutus giving his ultimatum.

But we all love the little scenes, or even just moments. Those are why we rewatch episodes many times over, and will keep doing that for many years.

I wanted to start a thread that appreciates all those tiny, remarkable moments that always keep us watching TNG.

What are your favorites? I will start.

"Unification I" - Picard trying to get to sleep on the Klingon ship, and Data just keeps staring at him. That scene always make me laugh. So many reasons why Data is my favorite character in scifi, and this is just one of those tiny moments that reminds me why.

Worf giving thanks to Deanna for her help and advise in raising Alexander.

Deanna helping Lwaxana to deal with Kestra's death.

The memorial party for Ro and LaForge where they finally showed up and partied along. Especially Riker's face when they reappeared before his very eyes.

Oddly enough, I had that scene in mind when I read the title of your thread.

The other scene that I had in mind was Jellico telling Picard "the Enterprise is mine now" and then unsympathetically handing Picard his book. You could tell that Picard wasn't happy but he acted gracefully by not saying anything more. The expression on Picard's face was memorable. Stewart/Picard expressed so much with that look.

Berlinghoff Rasmussen instructing everyone in the briefing room to fill out their questionnaires, & Geordi chimes in with "If I hand in my assignment on time, can I get a glimpse into next week's poker game?". It's just the most "me" line the show has ever had. If I were on there, it would be that kind of stuff all the time lol

Picard giving Data's advice hunting about Jenna D'Sora the quick brush off "I'd be delighted to offer you any advice I have on understanding women. As soon as I have some, I'll let you know" :guffaw:

Picard eating Japanese cuisine.

I had never noticed this before until I saw "Pegasus" on H&I a couple of nights ago. He was holding chopsticks on one hand and a bowl of rice on the other. There was a bento box on the table in front of him. He was dining alone in his quarters.

That was the calm before the storm. Moments later Riker entered his quarters. Picard went on to give Riker a tongue lashing for not revealing details of the Pegasus mutiny. I guess Riker wasn't staying for dinner.

I suppose it must be lonely at the top. It did look like a delicious meal but apparently Picard had no one to eat it with.

I love the scene in "Booby Trap" where Picard, about to get onto the transporter platform, starts rhapsodizing about the joys of building ships in bottles. When Worf and Data (and Riker, I think?) look blank, Picard says impatiently, "Didn't you ever build a ship in a bottle as a boy?" They demur, Data noting, "I was never a boy." O'Brien, running the transporter, chimes in, "I did!" Smiling, Picard beams away, while the others look at O'Brien as if to say, "Suck-up!" Says O'Brien, a little defensively, "I did. Ships in bottles. Great fun."

Deja Q

Q “Who does he think he is?”
Data “Commader La Forge thinks he is in command of engineering. And he is correct.”

Anything from Deja Q

Capt. Picard: Return that moon to its orbit.

Q: I have no powers! Q the ordinary.

Capt. Picard: Q the liar! Q the misanthrope!

Q: Q the miserable, Q the desperate! What must I do to convince you people?

Lieutenant Worf: Die.

Q: Oh, very clever, Worf. Eat any good books lately?

Data and Guinan looking at the nebula (I think in Imaginary Friend).

"I do not see it... It is interesting that people try to find meaningful patterns in things that are essentially random. I have noticed that the images they perceive sometimes suggest what they are thinking about at that particular moment.... Besides, it is clearly a bunny rabbit."

Of course, there's always the Riker moment in Perfect Mate after meeting Kamala. "Riker to bridge, if you need me, I'll be in holodeck four."

The final scene in Measure of a Man with Data telling Riker how testifying saved his life. It was a very classic Data moment.

Also the scene where Maddox finally admits - in front of Louvois - how special Data really is.

"Loud As A Whisper" - When Picard grabs Riva's head and tells him they are all in this together. That moment did so much to define Picard as a character, and as the leader and mediator he ended up becoming.

From "Silicon Avatar":
MARR: I need your help, Data.
DATA: In what way, Doctor?
MARR: Like you did before. Tell me that you understand, Renny. That you know I did it for you, because I love you. Because I wanted to give you peace at last.
DATA: I do not find such a file in your son's journals. However, from what I know of him by his memories and his writing, I do not believe he would be happy. He was proud of your career as a scientist, and now you have destroyed that. You say you did it for him, but I do not believe he would have wanted that. Yes, I believe your son would be very sad now. I am sorry, Doctor, but I cannot help you.
