Jem Hadar had a good idea with the headset viewscreens, but imagine if they sent a signal into your mind like the device from The Game and you could mentally control the ship via the headset interface.

'The Doctor' from the alternate future designed a Synaptic Interface in the end of ST:VOY "End Game".

I wouldn't be surprised if 'The Doctor' does it again.

TNG-era LCARS all the way for me. It's a nice middle ground between the buttons of TOS and the floating in midair displays of post-VOY shows. Those tend to make scenes cluttered at times.

Disco's far future interface. Flat screen interfaces are cool until my ADHD brain or clumsy fingers mess up. Buttons are cool until I accidentally push the wrong thing. So I'd prefer a mismash of controls, along with verbal or a 3rd person/vr interface

Edit - adding more thoughts

Joystick or hand motion reader for flying, gunner seat for combat, 3d models for sensor readings, views, comms

That is a hazard in TNG too was easily fired weapons. Lwaxana almost fired the torpedoes as well when Worf was showing her his tactical station.

In the case of Lwaxana almost firing torpedoes when Worf was showing her his tactical station... in fairness, he WAS on duty at the time, and the UI would have been unlocked for him.
However, I do think the UI should technically be coded to allow only the authorized personnell to affect the controls.

Riker's rear end couldn't mess up the controls obviously which would result in a catastrophic meltdown of the ship's power core, or initiate self-destruct... or anything else of similar significance because the UI was locked... hence Riker can sit on the controls without affecting anything. This works to a degree, BUT it obviously needs expanding to only allow authroised people to use the controls - this can be done via fingerpirnts, DNA and subatomic scans.

Personal favorite goes to Picard asking for all available power, even from life support if necessary, and Worf presses one or two buttons and says "Done." Seems like life support power diversion should at least be a three button push operation...

Eh... its possible that given certain situations (such as red alert) power diversion is allowed through authorised personell only.
And besides, routing power from life support is usually only done in extreme situations.
