Fairies and Mermaids on TV

I've been trying to find novels, movies, books and TV shows that deal a lot with Fairies and Mermaids because I'm working on a story where those to races play a big role and I wanted to see how others have handled. It's not an attempt to steal anything, I just want to get a basic idea of how they are usually handled.
I'm pretty happy with the amount of books and movies I've found with them, but I haven't really found a lot of TV shows dealing with them.
True Blood had probably the most Fairy stuff with the club and everything.
Supernatural has done several episodes focused different types of Faries.
Lost Girl calls all of their supernatural races the Fae, but they did also have Dyson's Season 2 girlfriend Ciara who was half Fairy.
I haven't had even that much luck with Mermaids, so far the only ones I've found are the Australian H2O shows, and the anime My Bride is a Mermaid. I know Charmed and Lost Girl also each did an episode with at least one Mermaid, and Once Upon A Time has done several mermaid episodes.
Is there anything else worth checking out with them?

There was a not-very-good TV sequel to SPLASH, titled, I believe, SPLASH 2.

Sadly, however, SMALLVILLE never brought in Lori Lemaris, Clark's mermaid girlfriend from the comics . . . .

Quite a few novel series (not TV I know) tend to have it as Fae are the inhabitants and Fairy is the name of their realm.

The Dresden Files feature the most heavily of modern fantasty fiction. I'm trying to find more examples of them myself but they differ a lot across most depictions.

Mermaids, really not sure they appear in too much, the Merpeople in Harry Potter come to mind though.

The Dresden Files are thick with fae in the later books. Can't help ya with the mermaid stuff.

Oh, yeah I've got a whole bunch of book series in my plans. I'm already like 9 or 10 books into the Dresden Files (love, love, love it), which was what first brought the Fae to my attention. I've got plenty of other books I'm reading or plan on reading for Fae and Mermaids, including the Iron Fae, Iron Druid and Toby Daye books for Faeries, the Syrena Legacy, Waterfire Saga, and Watersong series for Mermaids.
I was mainly looking for TV series.

I enjoyed it while it was on, but now that I'm a fan of the books it's really disappointing.

Yeah the series was damn well ruined. Nicholas Cage took everything he had prepared during it's production and applied to The Sorcerers Apprentice during it's development, because the studio wanted to go with something else.

The Dresden Files are why I have any real interest in them too, named my PS4 "Faye" because it's the glacial model, I love the Unseelie Fae in particular.

The problem is that Fairy is a catchall term for anything that comes from that world, which is implied to be hundreds of different species of beings as the Dresden Files explores, depicting so many of them during the books.

The Dewdrop to Seelie/Unseelie humanoids to the more bizarre and animalistic. Some book series depict them more like the Q in that they have no physical form and are born into flesh shortening their eternal existance to a lifetime when they need to.

How are you on reading Midsummer Night's Dream, literal fairy tales, things like that? they turn up there more often. Or there are all of their appearances in cartoons if you can find clips on youtube or species based on the general idea *cough*flutterponies*cough*.

I've always wanted to read stuff about mermaids! I'm going to look into those titles.

I found this. It might be useful.

There was an episode of Night Gallery with a story called "Lindeman's Catch," which was about a mermaid. It's one of the series' best.

There were two mermaid movies in 1948: Miranda (which had a sequel called Mad About Men) and Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid, both of which are worth watching (although I don't think I've seen Mad About Men).

I might have to check out that Night Gallery episode. I know there were also several Fantasy Island episodes with Mermaids, but I haven't been able to catch them on Cozi TV yet.

Splash, I love that movie.

I've seen Splash several times, it's one of my favorite Tom Hanks movies.

Oh, yes, how could I forget? There were two episodes, both starring Michelle Phillips as the same mermaid. The first wasn't that great, but the second was. In a rather offbeat story, Mister Roarke turns her into a human woman for the duration. The second story stars Tom Wopat as a guy who goes back to WWII to try to save his dad. It's one of the show's best episodes.

Pirates of the Carribean 4 features some mermaids.
And then, of course, nearly every telling of the Peter Pan story should have some mermaids, too.

I'm one of the few people who actually likes On Stranger Tides.
As popular as the Fae are in books, I'm kind of shocked we don't see them more in TV shows and Movies.

The closest we get in tv shows are things like Lost Girl.

Movies tend toward comedy/Disney type stuff. Finnegan's Rainbow, Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

Oh, you might like the movie Trollhunter. It's exclusively about trolls, but told documentary style. It's interesting and treats the material seriously. It starts out looking like the typical "found footage, everyone dies" movie, but it manages to move beyond that.

Which going by the adverts I saw this morning, is some weird young adult thing where they're all human and have powers never attributed to them.
