Just one of what I'm sure are many more RIP OFFS from STAR WARS, to be continued!!!!

By the sounds of things you've not seen any/much DS9. One similar prop is hardly a "RIP OFF", it happens all the time on TV and films.

Context is also important. Leia needed a disguise to get into Jabba's Palace. The Breen are a major interstellar power who utilise refridgeration suits in order to survive, since their homeworld is reported to be an icy wasteland.

Well at the moment he hasn't made his argument that DSN was a "complete rip-off" which as I'm sure most of us are aware means whole, full, absolute, entire, perfect.

I would say that this thread is boarding on spam, as the OP hasn't really made much of an argument. I could go into TNG and say TNG is a complete rip-off of DW. Get a picture of a cyberman and a picture of a Borg. But whilst they are superfically similar that does not mean it's a rip-off.

I like to think that this is happening because of me.

I hope Star Wars brings up how the scene in "Sacrifice of Angels" where the Defiant is saved by the Klingons is very similar to Han Solo saving Luke in ANH (not to mention Worf looks a bit like Chewie).

Besides, everyone already knows DS9 was a complete rip-off of Babylon 5.

And B5 is a rip-off of 2010, those Earth crusiers look like the Leonov. and ENT must be a rip-off of DW. After all it did have a ship that was bigger inside than outside. Bill and Ted was also a rip-off of DW seriously using a telephone kiosk as a time machine.

I'm sure we could find many similarities between films/TV shows though as said earlier that does not mean it is a rip-off.

If anything is a ripoff of Star Wars, it's BSG '78.

Also, Star Wars is a ripoff of Dune.

And Babylon 5 is a ripoff of Lord of the Rings, so transitively, DS9 must be also....

Hey, do you think we can discover circular ripoffs if we look hard enough?

I'm fairly certain DS9 aired first. Even with B5 waiting a full year between it's pilot and the rest of season 1.

Oh and nice objective poll from a fellow named Star Wars. ;)

They aired too close together to have any real effect on each others development at that point. The argument was mostly about what happened during the concept development process, which started earlier for B5.

I've long since stopped caring about the whole thing, myself. I just shrug at the bizarrely similar character names (Dukat/Dukhat) and other anomalies, and then enjoy both.

I've always been meaning to give B5 a complete watch. I remember watching an episode here and there from the first couple of seasons, but it never stuck. Everyone keeps saying the later seasons are awesome. Maybe I'll get around to it one day.

It's structured like a novel.
Season 1: Setting the scene. Mostly standalones, but many contribute things that will be revisited later (though you won't realize it at first).
Season 2: Rising action. Still a lot of standalones, but the threads weaving them together become a lot more apparent.
Season 3: Complication. Standalones become scarce, mostly arc episodes.
Season 4: Climax. Almost entirely arc episodes.
Season 5: Epilogue. For a variety of reasons the first half of the season is considered weak, but it recovers quickly and finishes strong.

Your wish is my commode. :)

Star Wars is a ripoff of Star Trek, because tractor beams, deflectors, proton torpedoes, cloaking devices, etc.

Star Trek is a rip-off of Star Wars, because phaser bolts that aren't beams coming out of phaser rifles; in The Survivors, Wesley says "Look at the size of that!" [cf. Wedge: "Look at the size of that thing!"]; the whole plot of Star Trek (2009) [going to bars, ice planets, huge enemy ships that destroy planets, etc.]; etc.
