What's the craziest piece of Star Trek memorabilia you own?

You know, something you've got in your collectiion that you say to yourself, "My God what was I thinking when I bought this?!"

I've got a set of TSOS drinking glasses from Taco Bell that I just cringe everytime I see them!

I have a combadge fridge magnet, a Bajoran rank pin and I did have a Bajoran earring before I gave it to one of my best friends.

The Penetrator by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

The Penetrator: a glow-in-the-dark novelty condom featuring the USS Enterprise of "Star Trek".

"To boldly glow where no one's gone before!"

The box says it's made in England for Gasworks Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

Trek bizarre by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

Clockwise, from top: A "United Federation of Planets" beanie bear; starship condom and hexagonal box; a zombies "Star Trek" patch; "Star Wrek" VHS candy; and (centre) the Kraft "marshmelon" dispenser and plastic cutlery from "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier".

^ OMG. I don't care how many more bizarre things people post, NOTHING's going to live up to The Penetrator. :alienblush::rommie:

Lifesize cardboard Kirk is watching over me when I sleep.

Well not really, Mr. Lemon banned him to the basement. :p

Baggie full of Star Trek by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

Items from the set of "Encounter at Farpoint" (TNG). "Star Trek Concordance" author, Bjo Trimble - aka "the woman who saved 'Star Trek'" - packaged up objects she collected for a charity auction into plastic baggies. The small silver mylar rectangle (middle, on black) is from the twinkle-wall or star field (it moved via a revolving drum in some scenes) was made up of thousands of tiny reflective mirrors glued to black Duvateen fabric.

I have added a few extra items to the display box: a Galoob "Data" action figure, which gives a good sense of scale to the other items, the mylar-sticker plastic badge with early TNG logo (from Lincoln Enterprise's TNG Fan Club), the little clay cottage from the "Old Bandi City" tabletop miniature shown in "Encounter at Farpoint" and an official studio visitor's pass, all bought in separate charity auctions.

Bandi by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

Originally located on Deneb IV, somehow this little cottage was transported backwards through time and space - and is now situated on a plot of grass from the Genesis Cave ("Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"). Yes, it's my "Little Bandi House on the Prairie". The little clay tabletop-model houses were broken up from the miniature set and attached to dozens of Christmas cards given out by the SPFX guys to the cast and crew.

That is so freaking cool!

TrekCan.jpg

The 7UP can is the one that attracts the most questions among friends. It came from the vending machine at the craft services table on the set of ST:Voyager. I picked it up while visiting during the filming of 'Prophecy' in season 7. It was so carefully packed for the flight home and sits proudly among my collection.

I went to visit some young Star Trek fans in Adelaide. They were quite used to being outshone by Sydney and Melbourne fans getting better access to Star Trek collectibles and convention guests than they experienced. One guy brought out a sealed plastic baggie containing his precious, rare, Star Trek holy grail: two cigarette butts he'd snuck from an ashtray being used by Gene Roddenberry's assistant, Susan Sackett, who was making a guest appearance at a small Adelaide convention.

Similarly, at Converge '88, a science fiction media convention in Wanganui, New Zealand, guest of honour David Gerrold, as part of his convention duties, acted as charity auctioneer. An inflatable silver model of the USS Enterprise-A was not doing terribly well. David decided to demonstrate just how it would look hanging in some Star Trek fan's home and he inflated it. Suddenly the bids started coming in thick and fast. Expressing surprise as to its sudden popularity, David wasn't expecting a nervous female voice from the audience: "But it's got your breath in it!"

BTW, much to girl's disappointment, the model (and David's breath) came home with me.

I used to have a Star Trek phone several years ago. It was cool to hear the red alert sound when someone called, but it was very uncomfortable to talk on, and difficult to dial due to the non-standard button layout.
