CHILI!!!!

Well, it was mostly done before I stuck it in the crock pot. I just put it in there to let it mingle a little bit.

Also, I got hungry.

I know this is sacrilege to a lot of people, but I don't think I have had chili better than Dennison's out of a can. It is what I grew up on, so it's what I am used to. I don't think I have ever had like recipe/cook-off chili though so maybe I am missing out.

You're definitely missing out. The only time I use chili from a can is when I'm making chilidogs.

Find a recipe and try it. Good chili isn't hard to make and once you've tried it, you won't want to go back.

I am, however, quite lazy, so it's going in the crock pot.

There's nothing wrong, and everything right, with crock pot chili. :)

Damn straight!

Good chili needs to simmer at least four hours. The best way I know to do that without burning it is in a crock pot.

Sounds like I need to drag my recipe binder out and post either my chili recipe or my Dad's (I've competed using both). Mine's hotter. His has more of a variety of flavors. Both are excellent.

I'm a chile addict. Green, btw. Always. I was over by one of the chile roasting places a week or so ago and oh.... the smell. Oh the smell. It's heaven.... ohhhhhhh......

I got some stuff to make chili today; Dark & Light Kidney Beans, Diced Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce, Green Pepper, Onion, Chili Seasoning and Ground Hamburger. I can't wait!

Well, our plan for stove top chili failed today. So, tonight, we make up the ingredients and let it crock all day tomorrow.

I tried making some on the stove top today. It wasn't bad, just nothing special. Then again, I didn't really let it simmer for very long before I tried it (I was too hungry!).

I'm going to the gym right now, and I'm just going to let the pot sit there and steam (it was lightly boiling, so I covered it up and turned off the stove). Hopefully it will set while I'm working out.

I made double what I made the other day, so it probably needs longer to stew. I also used ground beef AND ground turkey this time in an attempt to increase its amino acid profile. :p

I'm tellin ya, you want some damn good chili, add ground chorizo sausage. Ground beef just doesn't cut it.

This thread makes me want to open a can of Hormel Chili with beans.

Seeing the combination of this thread title and your screen name on the front page made me laugh.

Oh, and more to the topic, I like to eat chili. It tastes good.

I have a feeling I will be eating a lot of chili this winter.

Where the hell is that white chili recipe?!

Heathen, make mine with orange sun peppers and bermuda onions, so chemical hot that those little strips of skin peel from the roof of your mouth. Hunts chilli beans are best, rinse well. Campbells tomato juice. Lean ground buffalo for meat.

Serve with a tall scotch blossum and lots of icy cold Dos Equis.

Scotch Blossom: 2 ounces of Scotch, 1 ounce of honey simple syrup, 1 ounce of lime juice, 4 to 8 mint leaves, and ice. Shake vigorously, add soda water, and enjoy.

Be quiet, I'm in the middle of a massive office move right now. When I have time to breathe, I'll post the damned thing. :p

Timby, I defer this to you.

Given the Kitchen Confessional thread I posted a while back, I can't shriek too loudly at this. (Especially since Hormel is just about to open up a new plant in my city.)

Fuck it. GOD DAMN IT, SON, MAKE CHILI LIKE YOU MEAN IT!

You don't know what real chile is. The picture on this page is chile. That crappy Texan goop is not fit for pigs. They are not remotely the same thing either..

You poor, lost, wandering fellow. One day you shall see the truth. :(
