It seeems that northern Tasmania is suffering higher temperatures than Hobart is. On Flinders Island the temperature reached 41.5C - the highest temperature ever recored in Tasmania. At Fingal the temperature reached 40.6C and in Launceston the temperature reached 37.5C which was their hottest day since WW2. High temperatures should continue Friday and Saturday.
In isn't common for temperatures in Tasmania to be more than 30C for more than two days in a row.
Last night, because of the blackout, almost every trainline was suspended. I caught a tram home (there were plenty of them for some reason). We live right next to a station and not one train went by for about an hour (when it's normally peak and they're passing every 5 minutes).
We must have had a blackout during the day because all the clocks were flashing, but we didn't have any more of them.
Today it's cooler (only 30 so far) but much more humid, so in a way it's worse!
It's just been a hell week... heat, trains up the creek, that horrible story of the little girl an the West Gate... it's not a good year so far, let's hope it improves. Everyone's just very tired and over it basically. And we're still in the low 30's for the rest of the week at the moment as well.
