Yeah the bottom part of your model below the habitat ring so many windows going down. What is the core used for and why did the model designer go nuts with the windows?

Probably power generation and ore processing.

Very nice. Color accurate, which mine certainly isn't. I'll chalk that up to better references than I had. I have seen the actual studio model and the color photographs differently than it actually looks. Is that Defiant from the Hallmark 3 piece small set?

No, it's included in with the kit.

I would have loved to had kept my DS9 but it had to go when we moved house for space........ Mine was painted the overall colours as you see it on TV but I did one day want to make it garish and give it glossy paint. But alas...

Huh…. I had the DS9 kit when it first came out. Didn’t come with a Defiant back then.

I believe the newer released model does have differences from the one released in the 90s.

Yeah, I absolutely botched the decals on the Keldon. Don't expect to see it posted anytime soon.

Finally made some progress on the 1/350 NX-01. Managed to get the upper saucer light blocked and primed. It's all ready for paint. The "back porch" on the lower saucer was an absolute mess with massive gaps and warped pieces. After some puttying and a few sessions with the hair dryer, I think I've mostly got things sorted out.

All it needs is a couple of deck chairs (bolted down of course) and a force field and you really do have a back porch with a sky view

Gorgeous work on DS9 and the Defiant! No way a Galaxy-class is docking on that station lol (with the size discrepancies on both DS9 and the Defiant i mean...lol)

He's pointing out that the Defiant is scaled too big, which it is.

Being that we've never got an official size for the Defiant, I assume the kit makers simply scaled it small enough that looks "almost" the right size, while still big enough to light and detail appropriately.

It's still very small.
